I was at work today waiting for my wife to call me to let me know that Fedex had delivered my new A170 Sony 17" xbrite notebook. It's cousin to the A190 but because it is custom configured, it is called the A170-go figure. Anyways, I am called away from my desk but when I return, I noticed that I had a new voicemail message. Hoping that its my wife calling me to tell me the good news, I hurriedly accessed my voicemail. It was indeed my wife but the news that I received was far from good. She said in a rather rushed and annoyed voice that my package had arrived but it had been damaged and soaked through and that it had a big tear. I was in disbelief when I heard the voicemail so I immediately dialed my wife to confirm what she had said. I was hoping it was a joke but when she explained in detail the condition of the box, I was in a state of shock. I asked her what the Fedex guy had to say and she said that he would make a note that the package was damaged and that I would have to contact Sony.
What a Freakin ASSHOLE!!
Being in no state to continue with work, I decided to call it a day and go home to inspect the damage. Upon first inspection of the package, I thought that there was no way that my notebook could not be damaged. Indeed, the whole outside box was damp and there was a part of the inside box that was exposed. This inside box was a little damp as well but for the most part, held together. The manuals and inner packaging were a little wet but luckily the notebook, battery, and power brick were dry-thanks to being enclosed in plastic. Wanting to make sure that everything worked, I put in the battery and turned the unit on and luckily, there were no problems and no dead pixels.
Review to come in a few days.
