ok, i just moved to a new office. and noticed that the reception from the wireless was very poor ( B standard)

microsoft reported it as low.

and it would loose connection very often, maybe every 5 minutes, or if i used the net to a degree. since i connect with a vpn client, it was very irritating to repair the connection in winxp, and then start the vpn client and enter username and password again.

an example, yesterday i worked for 5 hours in the office. Writing papers and checking mail\searching for info.

i must have repaired the connection, and restarted vpn atleast over 30 times.

today out of frustration, i bought a intel 2200 b\g card, windows reports the connection as good, a few times as low.

but the laptop has now been connected for 1.5 hours, and no signal loss.

so if you only have B standards, or use the lappy where that is only used.

my advice: get the intel 2200 card.

were you using WZC to connect or the intel drivers?

WZC?

i was using the intel drivers dl fom dell.

now i dl the 2200 driver from dell, including the intel utility.

only thing that sucks is that the shop was out of bulk cards so i had to pay a little extra, and a netshop that was 25% cheaper i had to wait 2 weeks for it.

but not having that frustration was worth it

wireless zero configuration. make sure it is disabled when your using the intel drivers.

well thats news too me, it has always been on. only thing disabled because of vpn is "Internet Connection Firewall (ICF)/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)".

but i have never experienced signal drops before here, just when i was moved to the new place.

Perhaps there are different networks running at the new place. WZC has issues trying to connect to other networks and ditching the current connection. It's good to hear that the new card appears to be working fine though. Good job on selling the old one, I only hope for the buyer that it wasn't a bum card.
