Hi... tried posting on another forum, but haven't had much luck. Also, I'm wondering if this specific to Windows and not just my machine.
Does anybody have a problem bringing their computer out of hibernation with an external keyboard and mouse? I have a Presario R3240CA (Athlon 3200+) and I've enabled the mouse and keyboard to bring the laptop out of hibernation. I find that if I deliberately put my manchine into hibernation, I can login with my external keyboard and mouse.
However, if I let the R3240 just lapse into hibernation by itself (leaving the laptop unattended for a while), I cannot log back in using an external mouse and keyboard. I have to use the laptop keyboard or touchpad only.
This is just an inconvenience, but a bothersome one because:
1. If I want to resume using my external keyboard/mouse for regular stuff, I now need to restart the computer.
2. I'm trying out the HP expansion base, which covers up the mousepad. I can't manoveur the cursor to my user login with the non-responsive external mouse or the now covered up touchpad, and I have to taking the whole thing out of the base to get at it.
I suspect this is a Windows quirk or I've missed an option setting somewhere, rather than the hardware, but I'm not sure.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
