I just got an imac and I noticed that anytime I play a new song, itunes "copies" the song that's not in the itunes library.

So is itunes making a copy of the song and using up more space on my hard drive?

Yeah; it's kinda annoying. iTunes puts every song it touches into the music directory in your home directory. I wish it would just play a song and let you decide what to do with it later because it's especially annoying when you get a song you don't like you have to tell iTunes to not only remove it from the library, but to remove it from the home folder as well.

Simply setting, just uncheck the checkbox where it says that iTunes will manage your files....

If you're new to Macs you have to remeber they're smarter than you, so just let it do what it wants.
