Thinking of purchasing 675xl today...Any thoughts, concerns, advice about these specs

Hello all. I've been reading these boards for a while trying to make a decision on a new laptop and I think I'm leaning towards this one. Please let me know what you think. I'll primarily use it to play games, EQ, EQII, Rainbow Six, etc., and for doing some work from the house. I also had a few questions I was hoping someone might help with?

1) Will going with 2048mb RAM instead of the standard 1024mb RAM make a considerable performance improvement?

2) I noticed Dell offers a Radeon with 256mb verses Gateway's Radeon 128mb. Is the 256mb card that much superior and would I be better off with the Dell?

3) I'm concerned about the 5400rpm HD but I don't have the option to go with the 60gb 7200rpm HD with this model and setup. Will it make a huge performance difference?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance!

1. No, 1 gig is enough for basically anything anyone would use their laptop for.
2. 256MB video would be more future-proof, but for the time being, there's hardly any difference between 64 and 128 megs.
3. Going to 7200 rpm hould be a noticeable difference, but not a very major one.

Thank you for your reply. So it's not worth spending the money on the extra RAM?

Nice config, but seems expensive. That extra gig of RAM seems overpriced, I would hold off on that for now.

You could save a few $ by using AAA - check it out :

Thanks Snip. I've been looking at the Sager notebooks too. Seems to be about a grand less and I would get the 256mb Radeon. I've read great reviews. Any experience with Sager anyone?

If you call gateway you can do more configuration than online. I did that for mine and got a few options that weren't listed on the website like upgrading to the WSXGA screen for only $75
