I've been thinking about the whole 3790 lcd distortion issue and I've come to a decision that reminds me of an old joke.
Guy walks into a doctor's office and holds up his hand. He bends his pinky backwards using his other hand (a movement he would never need to do while performing any of his daily activities). He says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." The doctor quickly replies, "Then, don't do it. That'll be $40."
With the exception of a few unfortunate folks whose screens have permanent distortions, most of the distortion observed only occurs when those of us push against the backs of our lcds. I would advise not doing this anymore.
I think most are happy with their 3790's (I know I am). I also think we should not forget about the distortion issue so that, in the event we should turn on our laptops one morning and there's a white blob in the upper right corner of the lcd, we can contact Sager about this known issue. But, enough about it already. If its not there when you don't push against, sit on, or otherwise smash your screen, don't sweat it. Protect your laptop as you should (don't smash it between tightly-packed books or stack your 20lb dumbells on its lid when it's closed) and play Doom3, Counterstrike, The Sims2 and enjoy the manna from Sager that is the 3790!
