Hi,
I recently found a firmware for the Mat****a UJ25S DVD drive on the "Firmware page" I installed this on my DVD drive, unfortunalty the DVD RAM now takes about 30 Second to initalise when the Ferrari is booting up (total time to boot about 35seconds from powerup before going into booting windows), this could be due to the fact that the Firmware is not an Acer optmised and the Bios does not reconoise the drive correctly. The DVD drive does works perfectly alringht in Windows and there appears to be no other problem associated with this.

Does anyone have a copy of the Firmware for the Mat****a UJ825S DVD RAM as installed in the Ferrari 3200 I assume its an OEM Firmware?

Does anyone have a programme that allows you to rip/backup the Firmware from these drives?

I opened up the laptop and the label on the drive says it is a UJ825C.

Sorry, but I can't help you there. Try conacting Acer for the proper firmware and re-flash it

I also updated the firmware with the one from http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1915 and ran into the same problem, it takes the bios forever to initialize the drive, I havent found the original bios yet, but I did find a workaround that I think is a lot more bearable. If you install the slave firmware instead of the master firmware, your bios does not initialize it, instead windows sees it as a plug and play device, so it doesn't load until after windows has started, a lot better in my opinion. But as a warning, if you screw up your comp, you might not be able to load from the cd-rom drive, I havent tried yet but I have a backup hd for worst case scenarios, I will update when I get the answer though.

I have confirmed that you are indeed unable to boot off of a cd-rom if you do this, if you have either installed linux or upgraded your hd so you have the old one as a backup then I wouldn't worry too much, but otherwise take caution and at the 1st sign of windows corruption replace it with the master bios file.

Hi

Does anyone here know where I can get a replacement for the 4in1 card reader for the Ferrari 3400 or the model number? I have just bought one of these laptops off Ebay and the card reader is missing (I did know this before I bought it!)
