Area 51M Vs. Hypersonic Aviator gx7?

Hi, I am really interested in buying a alienware area 51m. However, I have been hearing many good things about the hypersonic aviator gx7. I was wondering if anybody could give me information about these two machines.

The GX7 is a beast. Dual channel RAM, 9700 with 256MB, 17" WSXGA. If I could get one of these, I would.

Thanks twopiece, but do you think a alienware is a more practical machine. I would most likely be brining my machine to college.

well your choices are this
1. gaming power(falcon northwest, voodoo, sager or sad to say dell, that dual channel memory gets us)-side not a GX7 is a sager model-
2. yearly usuage aka upgradeabilty (alienware)
3. battery life (something with centrino processor, or maybe AMD)
4. non-gaming (something else)
5. good but cheap (there are some stores)
but thats just my opnion, just tell us what you really wanted the laptop for and we can help

Well I play some games on my laptop. Im not really hardcore about it. I aso download music and occasionaly mess around in photoshop. I also do alot of research papers and wriiten stuff. I also would like a laptop that has a dvd writter drive and I also like to watch movies occasionly. Bottom line I want a laptop thats very fast and has alot of performance but is not so crazy that I would be wasting my money on some features I would never need. I plan on using it as a desktop replacment and I have been hearing alot of good things about alienware and hypersonic. Cost is always an issue but It really is not my main conern. I would not mind shelling out a fair amount of money if I knew It was woth it.

i am going for the hypersonic because of the widescreen and the good reviews i have seen here and on resellerrating.com. i was initially interested in the 51m and gravitated towards the gx7 after reading about some users experiences with aw. i think that you would be happy with either and should configure both as closely as possible to compare price vs features.

I am in the same situation, college and would like to game a little, and i went with alienware because there prices are not as bad as some others. i also chose alienware over the gx7 becuase since i am taking it to school it would need to be a little portable although it is a desktop replacement. the gx7 is nice, but it is big and heavier compared to the 51m. i heard the 51m's battery life is a little better also. not sure though. that is just the conclusion i cam to though. the price for the 51m is cheaper now than i have seen it over the last month also. both are good. just depends on what you want.

Thanks everybody for your advice. I am going to try and configure the machines for what I want and compare price. If anybody else has any more info I would really appreciate it.
