Question about my LCD screen, IBM A22P

Guys I got a question,

I recently got a straight vertical line on the right side of the screen that goes from the bottom to the top of the screen. My first impression was it was dead pixels, but !wait a second a straight line of dead pixels!!!!

I am not sure what it is. and sometimes I see that the line disappears for a second or two the comes back. Can you guys give me any ideas what is wrong??? I would hate to buy a new screen if it is not the problem.

thanks,

If you plug the notebook into an external monitor, is the video perfect???
That would be the first think to test.

I did plug to an external monitor, it looks fine then. So does that mean that my LCD is shot? I just want to know why the LCD got this way, I understand dead pixels but a straight line!!!!

Chances are it is the LCD.
The last thing you could do, is unplug the ribbon cable from the LCD, and replug it in, but I don't know the instructions for doing that with your notebook.
However, I did have a video weirdness with a Dell, and it was a loose ribbon cable.

thanks, I guess I will try that.

Only thing I hate about the ribbons is tha they are twisted to connect. Appreciate your input.
