From Newegg.com:

Even if it's refurbished, it's still a pretty sweet deal!

Bah. No shipping to Canada. Wankers.
now that's a reasonable price for the shi!ty hard drive and poor memory configuration.
still 2x256mb? Acer better hurry... snorre has a good Ferrari config... but the original one is too much for the money.

shi!ty? Far from it, I think the Toshiba 80GB 4200RPM hard drive and 2x Nanya 256MB DDR333 memory are good quality products. Ofcourse one could wish it instead came equipped with Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM hard drive and 2x Corsair 512MB DDR400 memory, but that would also increase the price tag quite a bit. I doubt you'll find a better deal than this on the Acer Ferrari 3200 today

snoore, even 1*512mb Kingston PC2700 is better in all regards.

Don't take me wrong, they are good. But it's still 2x256MB and a 4200rpm for $1749

Yeah, that's the config Acer uses in most of their notebooks today.

I think what makes the F3200 not a low budget laptop is the they have taken extra measures to make it such thin and light and the complete set of features wich the Ferrari notebook series has as a standard. Where else can you find a notebook with an Athlon 64 and 128MB MR9700 in a thin and light form factor? I know the new Asus is pretty nice but I think it is alittle heavier and with the same features way WAY more pricey, look here http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?item=NBKAS2500K To me the F3200 is a bargain.

True....it's great that a F3200 carries the same parts as my Uniwill (well...except for the slow hd and stupid ram config) and it is nearly 2 lbs less...thats pretty cool.

Sure. The Sony S comes in a much more thin and light case. And there is a price for this. With the Ferrari, it's the same thing (with much less impact).

I don't consider a "bargain" specially because the site you put is from New Zealand (Auckland), and NewEgg is here in US. And, after all that, one system is new and the other is refurbished

edit: Don't take me wrong, the Ferrari probably is worth (for some people) the awesome paint job and the thin and light case, but it looks like you're comparing apples with oranges.

For those who would be possibly wondering what's refurbished Ferrari about:

I've just received refurbished Ferrari from newegg and it was:

sealed from the Acer factory
all manuals and accessories "like new" were wraped and sealed like new
notebook itself was in "like new" condition (i did actually take magnifying glass and was looking for any even slightest signs of any use - didn't find anything )
no dead pixels

So only difference from new one was missing shrink-wrap on the box (Acer seal sticker on the outer box instead)

So I've saved over $200 so now I can get additional 1Gig of mem

Plus more battery life, better fan positioning, I guess. (depends how well it cools) Of course heftier price tag :P

I'll stick the the 258ka0. Not like bought something with a m9700 in it for batterylife and portability...
