As noted in another thread, I finally got a BFG 6800 for my Hornet Pro SFF. I have an idea about increasing the airflow and wanted to run it by everyone. If I remove one of the covers of an unused PCI slot, I thought the extra space might allow more air to be drawn in by the 6800's fans. I've got it set up in an open, well-ventilated area. Do you think this solution would risk too much dust being "inhaled" into my system?

I would remove the side panel totally actually. It also depends where you live I'spose. In a super-secret deep underground... there should not be too much dust if you take off your shoes when you walk around
Dust will get into everything anyway. My new desktop has 7+ fans or smth but so far not too much dust. Perhaps put your box on a small table or somehwere where it is fairly dustfree. Else vacuum it every now and then
What I would do it measure the temps with and without (maybe also w/o sidepanel?) and see it it is actually worth it.
I got the same specs as you now in my desk cept for the lovely 6800
(doing 'ok' with 5900xt)
