Is there an easy guide to follow to set up my home network so that file sharing between my laptop and desktop can take place?

I have been using my c640 simply for home wireless connection but when I get my d800, i'd like to set it up to share files w/desktop.

Where is a good resource on how to set this up?

I will have a dell dimension 8300, lat. d800, linksys braodband router - g
