Processor speed?

Hey guys, when i use a program called Bink Tools to check my system specs it tells me what speed my processor is running at, i have the 3200 ...

Now when im plugged in sometimes the speed is 3200mhz, but sometimes it drops to 3070mhz.

When i'm plugged in it seems the speed stays around 2910mhz.

My question is is it normal for that to happen? When i'm plugged in the speed flucuates even if i'm not doing anything (other than clicking the system button to see if the speed has changed)
Does anyoen know of a program to monitor the processor speed realtime?

If it isn't normal that may explain why my audio problems are much worse on battery than on AC

yes i think this is the problem!!!!!!! I downloaded a tool that displays your clock speed realtime, when the video is running perfectly my speed is around 3200, but when the video skips it has dropped to about 3070 for some reason! This really seems to be the problem

now....anyone know how to fix this? I'm sure its an issue with the computer wanting to save power consumption, which is fine and dandy when i'm on battery but i dont want it doing it when i'm plugged in, its ruining my gaming

powerplay is already disabled..what could it be?

What power scheme is it set on in the control panel? You probably want to set it as always on.

I think its fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

you dont know how excited i am after months of dealing with this problem, and sending my computer to depot TWICE I finally think i got it

realizing the cpu was being throttled back i had to find out why..well it seems pentium 4's do that when they are overheating..now why playing a .bik file would overheat my system and playing DOOM 3 wouldn't don't as me but i blew some compressed air in the vents and once the dust settled my system seems to be working better than ever!!

however, i still have the problem on bettery power, since my system automatically throttles back to 2900 when i unplug the AC..but at least when i'm plugged in its great

i might have that problem not to the same degree. but i want to blow my vents, lol, and i was windering could i just pick up compressed air from readioshaq.

I got mine from walmat so you can probably find it everywhere...I'm not sure if radioshack carries it (as a rule i try to stay away from there as much as possible)

But since its an electronics store theres a pretty good chance that they will have it

Can anyone tell me which panal on the bottom of the computer the CPU is under? I would like to take it off and make sure its really clean of dust..But those screws are a pain in the ass to take off so i dont want to do more than i have to

The CPU is under the big panel with 8 or 9 screws...
