Hi Whitewind,

First, the 1 year standard warranty is covered for the North America, so it is included Canada. However, I just wondering why you do not go to buy it directly from Canada? Or I can provide you some information about where to buy in Canada, then you do not really need to buy it in the US and then ship it to Canada, right! Moreover, if you purchase the M6Ne from here and then ship it to Canada. So, just in case, you may have to send it back to the reseller first if there is any problem or tech support on the NB when it is in Canada, so I think the best way will be directly purchase it in Canada.

Ramificatio,

Thank you for your suggestion. We do appreciate for your recommendation and I will response back to my manager about that. However, there are alot of decisions were making by our Taiwan headquarter there, so if they do not have any plan for that, then actually there is hard for us to do any changes in here. But I will do my best to talk with my manager about your suggestion and let see what happen then. Thank you for your message again.

Another M6 barebone question:

It seems that an optical drive is not included. Can one install any standard laptop optical drive, or do you need some sort of special carrier or bracket that holds the drive?

I have a question(forgive me if it was already asked):

Will asus ever have anything like the W1N, but customizable?

Hi! Asus Cust Rep,

Could you post a list of the different places in western canada, that sell the M6BNe

Hello Asus CSR!

Now, I know this has been addressed several times, but I have to add my frustration to the commentary. I was on the verge of giving in and buying an M6N with the WXGA widescreen, despite the fact that the resolution is not what I want. However, I just saw some photos of the M6N with WSXGA+ resolution. They're posted in the Notebook Review section below. The proud owner is in Australia, so he's not subject to Asus' inexplicable marketing strategy that dictates no WSXGA+ M6N notebooks will be sold in the U.S.

I know I speak for countless potential customers who would buy an M6N instantly if we could get that WSXGA+ screen. I daresay that the M6N would be one of, if not, THE hottest selling notebooks in the U.S. if Asus offered the WSXGA+. I know that the W1 has WSXGA+, but it's overpriced and a lot more style than substance because the M6N is lighter and offers better components. Is there ANY possibility that Asus will ever release the M6N WSXGA+ here in the U.S.? If the answer is no, can you tell us the reason? After seeing that WSXGA+ screen, I just can't bring myself to settle for the WXGA version of the M6N.

Thanks!

There is at least one whitebookbuilder out there that will custome build a W1n. They take the standard W1n and will replace the Processor and HD with your choice. They also will upgrade either memory slot. Warranty remains ASUS's for any part that was in the original configuration. Any part that is changed they warranty for 2 years. Same as ASUS.

Yes, but for most people it's hugely freaking expensive!

good-fast-cheap

Pick 2... cant have em all, ya know.

I have hear alot of gripes on the price of the W1, and I have to say... mine was worth the money. I really like it. But, its incredibly expensive. Gotta pick your priorities I guess.

I do agree, M6n with WSXGA would kill in the US. Maybe its a problem of quantity, that particular LCD is really hot, very desirable piece right now. More LCD manufacturers, more competition and hence lower prices in that arena, would help us end users out a whole lot. I would surmise that to be at least a 1 year wait though.

Rambling, arent I?

dear mr asus

i am a nice guy
i try to be nice
a few things are more apparent to me than to u
although i am pretty sure u can keep track of all the people's queries if they are sent via email...

1. if people post questions on forums than via emails then others with similar problems can feed off it.

2. forums are much better as there are more people solving your problem

3. most guys on this forum could tell more about asus m6bne and its problems with their eyes closed than u probably ever could. ( that does not include me )

4. as far as asus future plans go, u dont seem to know much.

so please let us continue to use the forums as they are rather suggesting people to send emails

i mean no offence

just my my 0.02

It's great that a person from Asus is here to answer questions by personal email or here on the forums!!! The last thread is still here with many answers to people's problems and general questions. I don't think Asus rep's intention was to direct all inquiry to email, just to give people the option.

Thanks

I say! Great job Mr. Asus Cust Rep!

I don't exactly have a question, but an inquiry. What are Asus' plan for implementing PCI-E in DTR and thin-and-light notebooks? When will we be able to see future models, and what will these models be like?

Thank you!

In addition to the other guy's question when will we begin to see DDR2?
Hi TK,

I was wondering when we can expect to see an update (along the lines of a 128mb 9700) or possibly a price drop on the W1?

Hi Customer Service Rep. I own an Asus S5NE (Wonderful machine), and I just wanted to ask you some questions about it's brothers the Black Asus S5200N and the new White "Ensable" Asus S5N (1.5 ghz) and about any future expansions of the S5N product line.

With the Black Asus S5200N I was wondering if it could run a 2.0 Dothan processor?

As for the "new" White "Ensable" Asus S5N that is advertised to be running at an upgraded 1.5 ghz on the North America website is the processor a Ultra Low Voltage or is it upgradeable to 2.0 Dothan? Below is the link.

http://usa.asus.com/products/noteboo...n_overview.HTM

Although I am a religious fanatic about my Asus S5NE 1.0 ghz ULV and it's 8.5 hour (with extended battery) battery life , and 2.8 pound weight (with regular battery) , I really sometimes wish that I had a 2.0 Dothan and a Radeon 9800.

Another question would be if Asus had any plans on releasing another ultraportable (3.0 pounds) like the Asus S5NE that supports 2.0 Dothan and a better video card (Radeon 9800?) within 1 years time (When I plan on buying a new system). I know it's a long shot but I always get compliments on how beautiful my system is and how long the battery can last when I am on buisness and travelling. Because of this I have been spoiled and everytime I see a BIG laptop I scoff at them and whip out my slim and sexy s5ne .

If Asus plans on releasing a laptop that is around 3 pounds, pearly white, has the ability to be upgraded to a 2.0 dothan processor and has a radeon 9600/9700/9800 or equivalent GPU I would pay you a good $3000 USD.

Thanks for your time Asus Customer Rep.

Couple of questions:

Why is my idle at 68 when plugged into the AC?
Why does my fan not work till it hits about 71C?

My specs:
M6Ne,
1.7 Dothan
1024MB RAM PC2700
40 gig @ 5400rpm

I've to ask a question about the Asus 2500K... I've already posted it here:
http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=43199

To make it easy:
1- What Athlon 64 CPU has it? The DTR (81 W), the Mobile (62W) or the low power (35W)
2- Is the cooling system enough powerful to make me work at full speed for many hours and with che CPU at 100% without overheating, throttling, shutting down... or whatever else...?

Thanks for your help...

princeofpersia,

Thank you for your message, i think the M6BNe is the perfect choice for you. It is absolutely fulfill all your requirments, moreover, the VGA is ATI 9700 64MB, not 9600. So, you can go to check it out with http://usa.asus.com. Thank you.
