ASUS Notebooks Cust Rep is now in this forum!! - Page 10

Hey Kronus

Thisll really kill ya... I have in my possession an Asus all encompassing product catalog. There is an all ine one bluetooth/80211a/b card. No g. But... its a PC card only, and it isnt PCI, its an asus add in card format.

All off of a single antenna that looks like a shark fin. Hehe.

Per the 128/9700 thing, all I know is that if I wanna game... 800$ buys me some sweet hardware to build a PC with to do it. Not for my laptop, but thats just me.

Eric

Surge- you aint bringing anything of content to the thread here. Asus rep is, as demonstrated by the thanks many are leaving him. I personally think it takes guts to come in here where brand-centric people are going to start flaming for no apparent reason. There aer lots of good laptop brands... Asus is one. The rep is here to answer questions. Play nice.

I've seen pictures of the pearl colored M5N. Is it available in the US, and if so, where can I get one from? A big couple distributors in the US I know only have the regular black colored M5N.

Surge...like what EricT says - What your doing is uncalled for. Just leave this thread, everyone seems to agree.

Thanks

abcheng,

Thank you for you message. Regarding to your message, there is only black color for the M5N in the US market. It is because that we already have the white color notebook in which is called the S5N. So, we decide to keep the black color for the M5N in the US market and do not want to giving any confusing to the public with these 2 models notebooks. Thank you

Surge,

Thank you for your opinion in here. The reason I am here, because I do hope to provide some more correct information to all the people in here. Moreover, I will love to get the recommendations from you guys, because ASUS will know more how people think about our products and we know how to get into more closer to what people wants to have on the ASUS products.
May be you do not like ASUS products alot and I do understand everyone has the right to speak out what they want to say in here. So, I will not mind about what you say to me, but I hope you will also respect to me or other people when we give out or share the information about ASUS products. Thank you

Yeah I've got some questions.

When can we expect to see WSXGA screens smaller than 15.4 inches on say the S5N notebooks?

Is Asus leaning more towards the ultraportable market or the thin and light market?

Can we expect to see a cheaper but higher quality rival to the Sony X505 notebook from Asus?

I see you have stated that Asus is the number 1 manufacturer of laptops in the world (or something along those lines, I may have gotten it wrong), is there any chance that Asus will begin to offer customizable laptops direct from its factory? As in the Dell business model? Obviously the quailty would be 10x higher.

Does Asus have any plans to ditch LCDs in favor of OLEDs and their kind in the near future? Say, in the next 5 years or so?

Thanks!

I'd like to request that you make the M6ne (or its replacement) available with a high contrast WSXGA monitor. I believe Asus have something called Aceview which is similar to the Sony XBrite screens.

2 new laptops from Asus. Which would you buy?

Which would you buy?
Asus, in the next 2 weeks will introduce 2 new laptops the Z81G and Z81L. They will both be 15.4 with Mobile Pentium 4 processors, Not centrino. One will have Intel intigrated graphics with a WXGA Screen. The other will have ATI 9700 graphics with 128vram and WSXGA screen. Price difference will be about $120. The better one will be about $150 below the M6BN. They both will have quad speakers and look simular to the M6. They both will have built in wireless. The Global designation for the units (every where but the US) is the A4.
Question 1: Which one do you think will be the better seller?
Question 2: Which one would you buy?

This is a trick question, right?

I bought an M3N over a year ago, after my GF convinced me to purchase over a Sony Vaio. She mentioned that Asus OEM's for Sony, and it is half the cost of a Vaio. Overall, I have been pretty ahppy, but whenever I try to put my notebook in Standby, it keeps giving me an error message.

"The device driver for the 'Synaptics PS/2 Port
Pointing Device' device is preventing the machine from
entering standby. Please close all applications and
try again. If the problem persists, you may need to
update this driver."

I have tried to reinstall/uninstall the driver, and I
also tried the latest rev.

Any ideas what may be wrong?

If it's not too much of hassle, would it be possible for you to reinstall Windows and see if this continues to happen?
if not a complete reinstall, what about a recovery install?
Wait! A reload should be a last resort, IMO.

Whats your current bios, vs what is out there? Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

Also, there is an option instead of reinstalling windows, to run a recovery install. What aurora is suggesting, I think. I recently did this to a client of mine that loaded SP2 and it hosed, and I mean hosed, his PC. I dont believe that annoyances.org stat about sp2 only hitting 15% of machines badly, I see a far higher percentage. Anyhow, redoing XP only, and reloading all the service packs- except sp2- and drivers, that might help.

Best of luck.

I tried to rebuild it in the past, and it seemed to fix it. However, it eventually ends up back in the same state.

I dont know if this has been asked before... but I dont feel llike going through all of the 13 pages...

Now that the new asus with 14 inch SXGA+ screen came out, is there any plan of implementing a real gpu and not just intel's integrated solution, in the near future? How about the small 12 inch models?

Re: your M3N/Synaptics/Standby problem-
Have you ever checked the ASUS site for BIOS UPGRADES? There have been a couple of new Bios releases for this model in the last year. Using ASUS' WinFlash program, updating is easy (and un-scary!).
Also- Sometimes TP drivers need to be COMPLETELY UNINSTALLED before upgrading them- read ALL the instructions for this, or any driver-update. Note- this goes for any PC.
Hope this helps.

Bitrunner,

Regarding to your questions.
1. It is really depends on our Taiwan Headquarter for the trends of Notebooks. But I know that we will have some more new upcoming notebooks for next years
2. If you are looking for some cost effective notebook, then you should choose the "BUILT ON ASUS" notebooks, because they will be more flexibility and cost effective for you due to customize the configuration.
3. ASUS is the TOP "3" notebook manufactures in worldwide, not "TOP 1". However, we prefer to go through the local resellers and online resellers when they can provide you a better service for you.
4. Regarding to the LED display, I do not get any information from Taiwan about this issue. Thank you.

wdsmith,

Thank you for your message. Regarding to your message, actually you have to consider what the purpose that you use for this notebook before you decide to purchase. The M6Ne is the centrino platform notebook and the Z81L/Z81G are the desktop replacement notebooks. They are 2 different notebooks and it is not fair to compare with each other since they are in the different market segment, right. So, I will recommend that you should consider what the purpose for notebook that you use for. Thank you.
