14" Asus with sxga

Enderet
What 14" laptop are you referring to that has sxga screen? Are you referring to the Asus M2c? It is available overseas but it is not planned, at this time, to come into the USA. It has ati 9700 graphics. Their reasons are that 14 inch laptops are not selling that well in the usa. 12.1 and 15.4 are hot. Their 14" units, the m2 and m3, are sold mostly to schools and other similar institutions. The M2c would be too expensive for those customers. I have an M2n and personally I would love the new M2C.
Looking forward, there does not appear to be a 12" sxga coming from Asus.

The SXGA+ 14 inch asus is already being sold in the US.

Enderet,

Thank you for your message. Regarding to your message, the M3Np with the SXGA+ is our high resolution display for 14" inch notebook. However, the rest of the other spec is pretty like the same as the regular M3Np, but just beside the resolution. Actually, we will consider of your recommendation about having the discrete VGA for the notebook instead of integration VGA. However, we also have to consider about the marketing demand and the decision from our Taiwan headquarter. Thank you. Therefore, I do not have any information to show that we will have any discrete VGA for the 14" or smaller size of ASUS notebooks. Thank you

ASUS Cust Rep: According to this news ASUS will introduce an A4-format series of notebooks this quarter that will feature AMD Mobile Athlon 64 and Mobile Sempron processors. Can you provide us with any additional details please? Thanks!

14" Asus with sxga

Enderet
Thank you. Your right. Although Asus is not activily listing the special version of the M3PN with sxga graphics, they do have some in Calif. They were brought in at the request of one of their resellers. Quantities are limited.

Hello Asus customer rep, I hope this hasn't been covered but after extensive research I'd decided to go with the M6BN laptop from a Canadian retailer called CanadaSys.com. I emailed them because their site listed the SXGA+ model as having a 9600 Pro instead of a 9700 Pro. This is the reply I got:
Quote:
For 15.1" LCD, we only have R9600, For 15.4" LCD model, we only have R9700,
Asus just changed this specs, I'm NOT able to do anything with laptop video
card. Asus has supplied this model until couple of weeks ago. Now in Canada, you
won't see any R9700 model with 15.1" LCD.
Can you shed any light on this? I really wanted the SXGA screen but not if it means getting a slower video card.

May be you do not like ASUS products alot and I do understand everyone has the right to speak out what they want to say in here. So, I will not mind about what you say to me, but I hope you will also respect to me or other people when we give out or share the information about ASUS products. Thank you
Actually ASUS Rep, I never said I didn't like ASUS products. In fact even though I have an AOpen notebook, I recommened the ASUS M5n to my sister which she did buy and is very happy with it. So, I'm not here to bash ASUS, I just thought I would comment on the stuff people where saying. Like people posting their questions here even though you told them to PM you.
Anyways, didn't mean no disrespect to ya ASUS rep, we cool G?

A64 model/ new w1 config

Hey all-

I recently got word that some new models are hitting the US now, thought you all might want to know.

First off, there is a new config of the W1- instead of 768 megs of ram, its a full gig, and a Dothan 1.7ghz, not a banias. For you graphics nuts, have to dissapoint, its still an ati 9600 mobile chip, 64 megs vram. JUst the processor/ram have changed.

Theres a new model- and Snorre this answers your question- an Athlon64 model, specs posted below. From early rumors, its supposed to blow the doors off the acer ferrari.

See the specs below for details- I dont know how many resellers can get these, but I know of one that has them in now.

Eric

The specs:

W1's -

1gb instead of 768mb
735 dothan (1.7ghz) instead of 1.7 banias

Asus a64 system
Model name- Z8, Z80, something like that.
15.1" SXGA+
Athlon mobile a64 up to 3700+
Nvidia crush k8M chipset
ATI 9700 w/128mb vram graphics
Gigabyte Lan
G Wifi
4 in 1 flash media reader
Subwoofer like the W1
8 cell battery
7.4 pounds

Asus have about the most confusing model range and system of websites out there. The model you describe sounds a bit like the L5000D, but it has a Geforce:

http://www.asus.com/products/noteboo...d_overview.htm

Then it sounds a bit like the A2000K, except it doesn't have SXGA:

http://www.asus.com/products/noteboo...k_overview.htm

Or there is the Z80, which is listed nowhere else but here:

Who the heck knows?

Why are my temps so high between 70-80C AND THAT'S ON IDLE. I've removed backround programs from running and the temps are still very high. I've sent you a message about this but got no reply. It seems others are having the same problem. Any imput would be much appreciated(if you havn't addressed the issue already)
Are you overclocking? I ask this because your benchmarks are so high. This could cause it. My temps have snuck up a few degrees since installing the new ATI drivers - it now idles at 60-63.

Customise models

Hi Asus customer rep!

I live up North (Sweden). And i have some questions for you.

1. Why don't Asus have On-site support? If you are using the computer at work you can't really afford / have time to send it away for repair...
2. Why can't you or your resellers have customisable ground models?
(For example i want to buy an M6Ne (ground model) - then i can choose between 3 different screens, and then you have the hdd, cpu, mem and optical...there's a lot of combinations here and as i see you have different model numbers for all? M6710NE, M6726NEUP, M6826NE, M6858NEUP, etc, etc. - keep thoose numbers internally)
I, as a customer, or in this case representing a company want to be able to customise the ground model precisely after the need we have (some users need for example better cpu and more mem). You have a lot to learn from DELL here...
3. Will there come a more businesslike model with docking station or port bar support in the near future? (Something like the M2000C model - it atleast have the Ati 9000 instead of the crappy intel integrated one)
Nexur- the M6 series supports the portbar as well.

Sfdoddsy- its the z80, I think I put that in the specs above.

And as per dell- I sure as heck hope that Asus doesnt take any cues from dell. The last 3 dell laptops I worked on had major hardware malfunctions. Trying to convince one to boot right now, sigh. What a piece. It wont boot on power, have to boot off battery, but the battery is almost dead and wont hold charge, so you gotta slam the plug in once its past the "freeze" point. Sheesh.

I am anti-dell! Hehe, oh well.

Eric

Certis,

Thank you for your message. Regarding to your message, the M6BN is using the ATI Radeon 9600 64MB for VGA. However, the M6BNe is using the ATI RADEON 9700 64MB. So, please notice about that first. Thank you.
