Alienware is its own worst enemy. They've got sloppy and careless advertising practices that come close to outright fraud. Their advertising of the Area-51m is a prime example. Again, search my previous threads for my experience, if you'd like to know more.
What's so frustrating and infuriating is that AW could easily avoid these problems by simply being straight-forward with their customers. AW sells some excellent products. There's just no need to mislead people or over-hype a machine for over a year before they'll release it. I had an hour and a half long conversation with AW's mobile products manager, David Estrada, about this, last year. He was very nice and we had what I interpreted as an extremely cordial and productive exchange.
Despite my problems with my Area-51m, I thought it could've been a great machine. The numerous technical difficulties left me no choice but to return it for a refund. My two months of frustration left a very bitter taste about AW with me, but unlike several other dissatisfied customers, I didn't go on some anti-AW hate crusade against them. I've just decided to spend my money elsewhere.
I hope AW gets its act together, but until I see some real progress, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone looking for a notebook.
