Does 8600 LCD mfg Matter?

Thread Starter
I've heard a lot of people talking about the 8600 LCD manufacturer and reading the faq it doesn't seem like a difference because all the bugs have been worked out... but I still see many people who say which they have? Is there any advantage of one brand to another? I just found out (using the guide on the dell faq post) i have the sharp version. Any info appreciated

Doesn't matter anymore. The concern used to be with sub-par Hitachi branded WXGA and WSXGA displays shipping... but the release of new revisions brought the specs up to match all the other offerings. So it does not particularly matter which one you get anymore as the differences are fairly subtle and non-critical.

I have a Samsung WSXGA and it is great, but people don't seem to have problems with a particular manufacturer anymore, like with the Hitachi's. People say that their Hitachi's are great, so don't worry about it.
