I'm leaving for college August 10th, and will need to have my computer by then, obvoiusly. I was wondering if I should cross my fingers and see if I would be able to get it in time, or if I should consider getting a different system...?

There's no way to know it's release for sure. If we had exact dates, we'd pass them along. They're still debugging it so all they can do is estimate. What you can do is wait until there's just enough time to order a system and get it on time still and if it's not out by then, have a backup system ready to order.

Adam, would we be able to order or perhaps know how much it is, when we'll be able to order one for sure etc., a couple of days before the actualy date? That may help him then if he's worried about timetables. I don't know if that's a standard procedure or not.

say i order a 5680 from you adam when they are available, how long do they usually take to ship?
