Hi

I've always used the 2.8 version. Always. I've tried the 3 but it's only slower, looks the same and works the same.

Is the 5 worth it?

Thanks.

I am using 5 right now, its much more stable then winamp3 (which crashed on me more then once).

It has some nice skins if you use those, but to really adress the question imo, I would prefer Winamp5 since it has keyboard shortcuts and I usualy listen to music while playing games. It also has Dee2 sound plugin (winamp 2 has it too mind you).

Great plugin , look it up on winamp.com... Very good quality improvement in general

edit: For your books my winamp5 process is 7mb

Winamp 5 is really cool. I also just upgraded to windows media player 10 which is almost as cool, if it had internet radio and tv like Winamp does

I always trusted Winamp 2.x (last one I used was 2.8) and I found it alot faster and more stable than Winamp3. Winamp3 crashed frequently for me, and although I liked the skins, there was so much list between the two. Winamp 5 effectively mixes what you like in Winamp 2.x and Winamp3.

The best features that I use in Winamp 5 is the Media Library (helps SO much) and the transparency. I like to set the transparency to 10% and have it fade in on mouseover. It looks really cool. I also like the fact that you can rip and burn CD's with Winamp.

I also use the Dee plugin, but I use both the first one and Dee2. Dee2 is astoundingly good. I can actually feel the vibrations from this laptops subwoofer through the desk, and it turns my 4 speaker home theater setup into a 6.1 speaker extraveganza!

Not people I know are into visualizations, but my favorites are Tripex3 (cool plugin) and Whacko AVS V.
