Low 3dmark03 Scores on 9100

First I'd like to say the i9100 is AMAZING!! I've been able to play all the games i can throw at it at high settings flawlessly. I'll pick up Far Cry and Doom 3 later this week and really test its capabilities. But I'm concerned with my low 3dmark scores. I know it doesnt reflect game performance, but it is still upsetting seeing people with basically the same setup as mine scoreing roughly 1000 points higher. The highest I've gotten is 5400. My setup is:

3.2 GHz P4 with HT enabled
MR 9800
512MB Ram
40 GB 5400rpm HD

The only thing I see preventing me from scoring higher is the memory and harddrive. But I don't think that's it since 3dmark is primarily a graphics card test. All I have running in the background is McAffee Anti-Virus, and XP Firewall. Everything else is stock settings. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Are you sure that 40GB HD is 5400 rpm? Cuz if you check the specs on the hard drives, they list 40gb as 4200rpm.

Also, if you are using the Dell Drivers for the MR9800, they suck. ;0) Grab the Omega's, they are much faster.

hmm. i have no problems with dell's drivers (see sig for specs and driver details). i play doom3 at high resolution 1024x video out to my 21" trinitron @ 34fps (timedemo1) and haven't experienced any technical issues with any games (halo, farcry, maxpayne2) or software (photoshop, macromedia, ms office, etc).

i've yet to try the omega drivers though. i suppose i'm not convinced of the real benefit.

i got no problems using the dell drivers also, the scores in my sig were done with dell latest drivers for m9800 laptop.

i think ppl were getting 1000 extra boost from the 4.7 to 4.8 / 4.9 cat drivers (dell, official, and omega)

I wasn't saying that there were any 'problems' with Dell's drivers, other then that they are just slower then the Omega's, which are tweaked.

everybody i've known in the last 4 months has got a 5400rpm hard drive and not a 4200rpm

Thanks for the advice about the drivers. They gave me the boost I needed . My new score is 6439 which is great since I had other stuff runnning in the background. Again thanks for the help. My hard drive is a Fujitsu MHT2040MH if that helps.
