HP zd7000 anyone?

I am based in Australia and we don't have the HP zd7000 available here. I was thinking of getting a friend to bring one back from the US next month, as HP in Australia can't tell me whether this will ever be available here.

Firstly, if anyone has any thoughts, comments or reviews of the zd7000, I'd really appreciate it. I am thinking of this or the Dell Inspiron 9100.

Secondly, if anyone in Australia has imported one here, have you had any issues or do you know if a similar model is coming here?

I have taken a look at the zd7000forums.com site, but there is little help. Nowhere near as helpful as this site.

Thanks in advance.

I can't say much as I'm not really own a HP zd7000 but my friend did. I'm also the one who recommend that laptop to my friend and he love so much. The bad point is that the battery life is very very short. My friend HP zd7000 only have 3GHz, 512 RAM, 60GB, Normal 17" Screen [not bright view or whatever it call], but it only last for just over 1 hour. However my friend didn't need it mobile anyway so it doesn't really matter. Also I'm actually check on that laptop as well but I decided to go with Sony A170 instead caz I want Pentium M with ATI GPU rather than Pentium 4 with nVIDIA GPU. Also HP zd7000 is a bit too heavy for me.
I don't know about Dell 9100 so I don't know which one is better. Sorry!
Hope it help you make a decision even for just a bit. If you want to talk with my friend who own HP zd7000 tell me. I will tell you his e-mail.

Thanks for the help. The battery life isn't really an issue. I just need a desktop replacement type machine where I can do web development from the office and at home.

Can't see jpg picture. ---> I think this is software problem not laptop problem.
Battery is dead. ---> caz you charge the battery wrong. You can't just charge it at anytime. Any battery laptop can go wrong if you use it incorrectly.

I have a software which says the laser is not calibrated. and I spent months to fix my cd rom problem and I am sure it is the hardware , not the software.i have reinstall the system from scratch, and my cd rom, was still not working correctly.

for the battery, if you use it for months to charge/uncharge it...off course after 1-2 years you battery is dead, no???

dont know if this HP7000 is good. looks good, bulky and solid. butI would prefer a sager for the same price.
