Just thought you guys might to know.....

There has been alot of speculation as to whether or not the new Area 51m or the new 88xx or 56xx Sagers will offer the new Hitachi travelstar 7200rpm HD's. Well while checking out Voodoo computers website last night I found that they are infact already offering them in their CURRENT models as an upgrade.

Try clicking on the customizable link option and a 60 GB Travelstar 7200rpm HD shows up as an option on the list.

BUT my GOD!!!!! you guys were right about Voodoo being Waaaaaaaaaaay overpriced.

OMG, pricing is ridiculous. I configured it the same as this sager 5670 I configured. No lie, it was $850 more!!! That's disgusting

Any idea how much more power the 7200rpms take?

The new 7,200 rpm drives from Hitachi actually use less energy than the 5,400 rpm drives out now.

Voodoo pricing

Hello. Yeah.. talk about price gauging... I configured one of them versus a sager and it was close to $1,000 more than a comparable 5670!!! what the heck are they charging for? Most likely they don't sell too many pc's and therefore their pc's costs more to produce.. so they pass on the exorbitant cost to their customers... why would anyone spend that kind of money?

unless you are involved in non-linear digital video editing or commonly use 500mb+ PSD files, you are quite unlikely to see a speed difference betwixt a 4200rpm vs. 7200rpm disks. a faster disk will yield a negligible gain in speed if the main use of your system is that of gaming.

Keeping in mind that Voodoo's definition of "CURRENT" apparently refers to a wait of 30 days for delivery of said configuration...

By which time the 7200 rpm drive should be readily available as an aftermarket upgrade to your Sager 88xx/56xx, for a much more reasonable price...

Hypersonic PC

I saw yesterday that Hypersonic pc also now offers the new Hitachi 60 gig hd at 7200 rpm's... and a faster turn-around time than voodoo...
