If the screens are the exact same size, it will work.

I dunno guys, I see the need to put a protective screen on my iPaq.. because I write on the screen with a stylus... but I doubt I'll put one on my 3790. They sound too much like a pain in the arse.

To each his own. I'm sure plenty of members can tell you stories of scratched or damaged LCDs. I know it will probably never happen to mine, but I'll be glad I have them protected if it ever does. It's just like insurance on a car, it's for piece of mind and that one in a million accident.

i think i'd like to have it just for that glossy-look-xbright-style it seems to give

I have actually got a small problem with my screen. I carry my laptop around with me in my backpack, and it appears that the keys are leaving lines in the screen. do you think that putting the Nushield on my latop with solve this problem? If not, does anyone have any suiggestions? I don't want my nice screen to get ruined.

Ouch! How can that happen? Shouldn't there be some space between keyboard and LCD when in closed position? Who did you buy from?
I bought from PCTorque - the problem, i believe, is the same thing that happens with some flip cellphones. the screen has a bit of sidewards motion in it, and when the screen is pressed into the keyboard, and the sideways motion occurs, it leaves behind little stratches. However, I am almost certain this can occur in all laptops, I'm just looking for a solution to this problem.

There should be but experience has taught me that is not the way it is. Seen dozens with what Tater is describing. The salesmen around here look like they have taken sandpaper to thiers thier wear marks are so bad. The lids are plastic and they flex, you fill up your carrying case and something puts something (books, mouse whatever) pressure on the lid even with protection around the computer.... It can destroy LCDs entirely or flex them enough so they rub on the keys. The reason I never bought one of the 56xx series was the case seemed pretty flimsy over the LCD. Never tore one apart to see if there was a metal plate inside - but I doubt it.

As far as the shield goes - seems to be exactly the type of thing it was designed for. I'll be getting one with my new laptop. A lot cheaper to replace then an LCD. But if you have the marks now, I am willing to bet they are not going to go away - the shouldn't get worse though with the NuShield installed. Another additional way to make sure you are protecting the LCD from that kind of damage is to insert it into your carrying case with the LCD away from any pressure points - either you or whatever you might have in your case (Remember if you are carrying it the weight of the case is pressing against you creating a pressure point). Or just look for a "hard" case.

Only problem with hard cases is that they screem " I'm a laptop-steal me".

Well, I discovered something interesting about this little problem. The marks on the screen are indeed straches, but only on the glare covering. Therefore, you CAN get a LCD cleaning pad and some cleaning solution, and revoew them quite easily. I should be getting a Nushield sometime this week, so I won't have to worry about htis as much anymore.

Oh yea and go to Shaggymac.com for a cure to your scratch prob. This way you can get a nushield and wont ruin that too.

Or just buy a piece of felt.
Just got my Nushield, it took a little doign to get it in, but my screen actually looks better. I'll post in a few days how it helps with the stratch problem. I'll probably also buy a piece of felt to help.
