I have A Toshiba P25 and occasionally it will lock up and freeze requiring me to shut-down holding the power button for 8 seconds. Afterwards when I try to boot up the power lights come on but nothings else happens. The screen stays black and all I can hear are the fans running. No hard drive activity at all. I contacted tech support and their solution is to remove the battery and disconnect from the main power supply. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds and then connect everything back up. This works maybe 50% of the time to get the computer to boot back up (and is a real pain in the butt
). Otherwise I may spend as much as two hours powering up and powering down before it finally boots up into Windows XP.
This will also happen when I try to bring the computer out of hiberation. I will hit the powerbutton, it will turn blue, the fans kick on and nothing happens. I get the dreaded black screen of death.
I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers from Toshiba but problem still occurs. Has anyone else run into this problem. Luckily I bought the three year warrenty but I'm hoping for an easier solution than sending the machine back to Toshiba because I know once they receive it they will say it is acting normally or can't reproduce the error.
