nVidia Unveils the new GeForce Go 6800

Quote:
Today nVidia is taking the wraps off a 12-pipe GPU that will begin shipping today in laptops from Voodoo PC, Falcon Northwest, ProStar, Sager, and Alienware.

Will the 6800 Go be nVidia's entrée to more key design wins in the still-growing mobile segment? Its performance is certainly a foot in the door, but whether nVidia is invited in for tea by large OEMs like Dell, HP, and Gateway is a question that remains unanswered at this point.

Ohhhhh!

You PCT folks have any idea from Sager/Clevo when an AMD 64 equal might be released?

Really nice machine, this 9860! Thanks for the indepth detail on the review, really does help to have all that info to work with, re: decisions.

*GROAN* I donno know if I can wait.

Happy Birthday Luke and congrats to Sager on a big win: You're listed first of the vendors shipping out machines with the new Nvidia Go chip on the Nvidia press release -- as it should be!

Here's to not eating Crow on the dual 5400 SATA's!!!!

Well the orders are in....how long does Sager take to ship their first round draft picks anyway?

Does anyone know where the units are shipped from? I decided to roll the dice and chose the free shipping option. UPS ground can take a day or two weeks depending on where you live and where they're coming from!! Does anyone remember from which state their piece came from??

Wow, anyone notice the Area-51m 7700? I could swear i've seen that notebook somewhere else before at a lower price

I think my second DTR notebook is gonna be a Sager from PCTorque

Sager is located in and ships from CA, goose. I would imagine the orders should go out fairly quickly, too. I would imagine there will be user reviews within the week.

If i choose to take only one HD, will which be faster? The 5400rpm SATA or the 7200rpm PATA?

And if i were to chose two drives, which will be faster? 2 5400rpm SATA in raid 0, or 2 7200rpm PATA in raid 0?

I know SATA is faster than PATA but the thing that makes me unwilling to decide is the RPM of the drives and their respective HD controller, i also know what raid is, no worries there.

Thanks for any input
i think that if you got a single harddrive, that the 7200 RPM PATA drive would be faster, but two 5400 RPM SATA drives in Raid 0 will be faster than 2 7200 RPM PATA drives in raid 0 i think.

Yes, according to Adam's review the dual 5400 SATA's in raid 0 are faster than two 7200 PATA's in raid 0.

Pay for Next Day Air or 2nd Day Air. Doesn't add much in the total scheme o' things.

Looks like the Sager/Prostar to me. Just put on a different lid cover. Not to mention the one to three month wait time.

what about m28

isn't anyone curious about the unnamed computer used against the 9860 in the anandtech test?

"In ATI's corner we have an unnamed M28 launch partner (we can't mention who until M28 is launched in about 2 weeks) using a 3.4GHz Prescott (P4-E), 1GB of RAM and a M28 clocked at 400/400 with a 256-bit memory bus."

or do y'all think its another 9860 with a mobile x800 in it?

Its probably Dell's replacement for the XPS. They were the first ones to have the MR9800 too.
