what's the difference between 6800/x800xt/quadro? The quadro has 512mb ram but I've heard it's a slow card.
thank you in advance,
Kevin

the 6800 is an nvidia card, the x800 is an ati card, and the quadro is what the guys at pixar use (also a nvidia card) ...not really a gaming card IMO.

This lappy looks awesome, aesthetically and specs. If only it had AMD 64 it would be an absolutely perfect DTR. I wonder what it will cost tho, I'm guessing a base price of around 2600.

yeah i would like to get an idea of how much this bad boy is going to cost ... also is there something i can put in the 2nd optical drive bay instead of an optical drive?

Isn't the sager 8960 based on the phantom d900 from eurocom?
i hope it's released before 2005.

It looks really bulky to me. Almost *too* bulky. Still, I've gotten used to lugging around my 8890 and I'm starting to think I'm in need of an upgrade. That's the first widescreen model that I could live with the port placement. Not sure why they stacked the optical drives, but I guess they did have to cram a lot into that behemoth. I'm not too bothered about it having an AMD either, so it's all dependant on price and what I can get for my 8890.

Things like this really do bug the crap outta me when I just bought a new notebook on saturday. Knowing how much faster that sager will be....arrrgggh

vid card?

What video card options are going to be available at launch for this? So far isn't it only the x600?
ahhhh there she is. I guess I'll have to sacrifice a paycheck for this
post #53 of 1072
I hope to get nvidia 6800go or ati x800.
I only know the 6800go is shipping around xmas.
Why can't they ship it a little bit earlier.
Wow, that's big. Looks as big as the Dell XPS monster.
Yeah, it looks like a super 8890.
dude i just looked over the specs again... this thing can have 2hds and 2 opticals at the same time... thats crazy sh*t... also it has not 1 or 2 but 4 slots for ram. wow this thing will dwarf the legendary 8890
post #57 of 1072
My 5690 feels bad about it self now.... ug looks like i'm buying a new laptop too
post #58 of 1072
Battery still isn't hot-swappable. But the screws do look different. Wonder if it's easier to take out...

Luke? Adam?

I'm interested in seeing upcoming benchmarks. I was surprised to see how fast my 5690 became weak when playing the very latest games with high detail. Hopefully this one will have a much LONGER lasting gameplay life
post #60 of 1072
Offcourse the 9860 will last longer.
PCI-E give us the changes to upgrade our vpu very easy.
no more sending back to the manufacterer.
