Sager 9860 announced - Page 32

EUROCOM D900T PHANTOM $6178.00 USD
=========

hehe ... I'm glad I went with ordering my 8790 now from PCTorque, for only $3050 that included shipping & with the 3 year warranty & Shipping coverage it's less than half of what Eurocom wants for the new model.

I'm sure it wil be less here in the States but it's still going to cost a lot more than what I paid for the 8790 I figure.

Eurocoms base is always higher.. then they rape you on upgrades. I think the difference between the two systems might be less then 500..but with the ability to up grade the card, it wont be obsolete in a month..

I was just looking at Eurocom's site and noticed this beast only has Firewire 400. One would've thought they would've put in the 800

I think I'm going to get the 9860 with relatively modest components and just upgrade RAM, add another HD, switch out the processor etc as funds become available. I think this may have been brought up earlier, but will the 64bit version of the P4 be compatible with the 9860's mobo?

According to Intel's site, the 925X and E7221 chipsets specifically support the EM64T P4 processors. The 915P was released at the same time as the 925X, but it doesn't mention the support for EM64T. The 915P is more of a value chipset, but I'm pretty sure if it did support EM64T, that would be a selling point that Intel would be sure to mention.

So, from the info on Intel's site, it doesn't look like the 9860 will support EM64T (Intel's 64-bit) P4s.

I don't think the AMD will be compatible with the P4 motherboard. You will most likely have to wait for AMD to release a mobile version of their new PCI-E mobo. This should be available by Q2 of 2005, hopefully earlier. That's just a guess though.

Edit* Oh sorry, didn't see you were talkin about the Intel 64 bit. That I have no Idea. Sorry

at the least they should be pin compatible. everything is going to be lga 775 for the next few years. I thought the difference between the 915 and 925x had more to do with extra multimedia and connectivity features than with chip support, but i could be wrong.

yeah I thought the 915 was a butget stripped down 925x, I don't see how it wouldn't support 64bit p4's....... but then again

Here in Germany a trader claims to have a first piece of the D900T - tomorrow there will be a short test on a special TV-Show (GigaTV) where we will see first benchmarks and - on weekend there will be a real review.

So the waiting time seems to be over very soon. Eurocom also has pre-shifted release date to 4/11 -

I ordered mine today from Eurocom today. I was thinking about waiting for the 1900 screen but it shows another 6 week wait and I haven't had a working laptop for over a month - can't wait any longer

Where did you see they had pushed the date to the 11th? It still shows the 4th on their spec's page.. I probably won't order til the 15th anyway..
I think he had the date in European format instead of our 11/4 format.

Hi,

I am from Germany so please excuse my language.
Maybe I can help on some Benchmarks for this beast, I saw them on some german PC- Magazine Website.

Here we go:
They say there is a GForce 6800go inside it, it is compareable to the Radeon 9800 mobile.

they benched it with 3dMark05 and 3dMark03

Radeon 9800:
3dMark05: 2524 points
3dMark03: 6527 points

6800go:
3dMark05: 2553 points
3dMark03: 7170 points

System was Pentium IV 3,2 GHz and 1,5 GB Ram

They haven´t lost one word about heat, fan noise etc. it was only a short preview.

MfG
