Ditto.

One question for owners: can you measure the distance from the beginning of the keyboard (left side of the caps lock key) to the end (right side of the page down key)?

Also, how bad is the dead pixel issue? I'm very particular about my electronics, and if I'm going to drop $2k on a laptop (which is a lot for a college student) I want to make sure it's flawless. Basically, what are my chances of getting a flawless screen, and what would it cost me if I had to RMA a few laptops to get it?

Thanks.

i don't have a ruler, so can't measure... the measurement's probably online somewhere already

dead pixels all depends on luck... the two that I own have dead pixels... the many that i've used at school, at work, etc have no dead pixels

good luck on finding anything flawless... it's ONLY $2000... try dropping 1/2 mil on a house and say u want it to be flawless

for probability on dead pixel occurrence do some online research... i doubt that there's a lcd expert (and by expert i mean expert) here who has the right stats... or just email the lcd manufacturers

normally they won't even replace the screen if there's only 1 dead pixel right smack in the centre of the screen... if u complain enough they might... it'll cost you $30 to send it to them, and they pay return shipping... or if u buy shipping insurance (or whatever it's called)... u pay $50 for all first yr repair shipping combined

Awesome review and pics JW. Sorry this is a little off topic, but I'm also deciding between wsxga and wuxga. How do both compare to Sony's xbrite screens? I was leaning towards sony at first, but after seeing all these 3790 reviews I've been converted. The only thing I absolutely loved about the Vaio's were the screens, so if Sager's screens are similar I'll probably place my order with PC Torque today.

It's a great screen. Look at my thread about the 3790 with the Nushield installed. It makes it glossy, and it looks amazing.

Thanks Draw, I actually did see your NuShield thread. It does look amazing, just wanted to get a comparison from someone with a lot of hands on experience with the 3790. Not like there's not enough people like that on these forums I'm definitely going to order my 3790 and a NuShield in the next few days w/PC Torque. Just waiting for my commission check. Thanks again..

When you order your Nushield, ask them to make sure it's perfect. No scratches or dents. You can do this in the comments box before you submit the order. Also get yourself some powerderless rubber gloves, or you'll rip your hair out.

Cool, thanks. I'll make sure I ask them to double check the NuShield when ordering. I'll definitely be using gloves, I'm all about keeping my stuff in perfect condition. I'll probably get some of those Nushield wipes while I'm at it too.

anyone know if they do this regularly, or something else happened

They have a limit on downloads unless you give them a donation. Click on Account Options after you log in and check your levels.
