Hey guys, i have been searching for a new laptop for school...and i found Sager The company and notebooks look very high quality. I want to be able to do some gaming (hl2 ), as well as school work. I would like to keep my budget in the $1,800 area. Any suggestions on a nice setup? thanks

You've no doubt seen Sir Draw's outstanding review. His work in these forums convinced a number of folks, including myself to get their carnivorous hands on one. And now I have it!:

- 'Gunmetal' color
- 1.7Ghz Dothan (equiv. to a P4 3.06)
- nice gaming marks with the ATI Mobile 9700
- beautiful wide-angle view 15.4" screen
- 6.6 lbs light
- media card reader, 4 speakers
And no tax if shipped from PCTorque with special arrangements.

I'm a very happy dude!

yah, i am leaning towards the 3790 the more i read about it. the only thing that worries me is all the talk about the dead pixels. is there a solution? also, is there a major difference between the C 1.5 and the S 1.7? thanks.

For that budget the 3790 is probably your best bet, of course with the WUXGA screen and if you're gonna be doing some serious gaming with it get 1 gig ram, and optionally the 60 gig 7200 rpm drive, you could get away with the 5400 but load times would be a little slower. I use the 5400 and am completely happy if you wanted to save some $$$. As for your pixel issue, you're going to run that risk with any laptop you get. You should read over PCT's policies on them.

I can't really help you out too much on the 1.5 vs. 1.7 issue ... that really is going to come down to how taxing the games you're going to run will be. The Intel M's aren't Pentium 4's ... so if it was me I'd stick with the 1.7 to give you that little edge.
