It's a conspiracy!

Does it seem to anyone else that Dell doesn't want i9100 owners to have the mr9800? It seems to me that the ever marketable Dell is trying to pretend that the mr9800's are exclusively for ixps owners (quote, "...and is compatible with Dell Inspiron XPS notebooks."). Thats it, end of sentence! What are they trying to hide? We know we(i9100) can use it so just give it to us! They want the ixps to be considered more of an "extreme gaming machine" and they know that an i9100 with the mr9800 makes the ixps look less...manly? I don't know, but I do know that it kinda irks me how they're making it difficult for i9100's. C'mon, share the technology. I know a lot of you i9100 owners already have it installed(not me ). Does it seem like they're catering more towards the ixps?

Ouch, but I still think they are trying to hamper sales to i9100's purely for marketing. It's not like it's "impossible" to get one for the i9100 but no one thinks they're mildly trying to hide the fact that it can be done?

i don't think they are trying to hamper sales to 9100s to upgrade to the MR9800 they are just making 9100 owners take the inititive... Why yell out that you can get an almost equal system in the 9100 compared to the XPS, minus the $1000 P4EE for hundreds and if not thousands less. From a business perspective it only makes sense for them not to market it out to the cheaper priced but very similar systems. It sucks, but be glad you are intelligent enough to know more than Dell thinks you do and GO GET YOUR SELF A MR9800... its soo nice.

I think, in reality, their intention was to only offer it to XPS's in hte beginning, and they would eventually add a 9100 part number down the road when stock was better.

Consider how much us 9100 owners have impacted availability. That's exactly why they didn't try offering to us at the same time. There's likely a much higher number of 9100's out there, so they would need a much higher number of parts to meet demand. What for a real 9100 part in November or so
