External USB Audio Device is noisy too.

Just upgraded my Dell 5000 to the Sager 8887 and installed the drivers for my M-Audio USB Duo today. To my horror the same sounds are coming from the Duo that come out of the built in audio card. ie..hard drive clicking and when I move the mouse I can hear all this scratchy sounding static. I guess the USB ports are picking up the intereference too. worked fine on the Dell.

Any thoughts on this gang? I'm ready to RMA the beotch.

Thanks.

I also have the m-audio usb DUO and it was working perfectly, no interference until I just reinstalled my OS. Now I can't get it to work either. I am going to keep working with it so if I get anywhere I will let you know. I can say that the drivers for the duo are a real pain to install. I had trouble with my desktop too. Whatever though, I will keep trying and let you know if I make any progress.

Drivers

The drivers have been buggy and the "midifix" works well for uninstalling all previous drivers and registry entries before doing a clean drivers install. To get the midifix make sure the beta box is checked and it will show up for the midiman series audio devices. It won't show up for the Duo for some strange reason. This worked well for me. The midifix wipes the puter clean ..tech support suggested it....nice cleaner. I'm gonna put the puter to a few more days of testing....I heard mention of midi dropouts during fan spin up and possible audio anomalies. RMA is in the bag but I hate to give it up. Maybe there is still hope..

Fixed I hope

I disabled all the network adapters, including the wireless internet thingy and all seems to be well. The audio card is ultra quiet running on Asio drivers and I also hooked up a midisport 2x2 midi interface and it worked fine also. No dropouts for me when the fan kicks in. Tested out a 40 track mix in Nuendo and laid in some live tracks. No problems during the 3 hrs I was running it.

Looks like it might be a keeper after all..

I'm glad you figured it out. I kind of gave up for a while, being that I have no significant need for it to be operational right now.
