i got my new 8790 about a month ago. i just installed mobile meter and i'm noticing that my processor is only running at 2.23ghz. this doesn't seem right considering the processor is supposed to be 3.2ghz p4. however, the computer is recognizing it has a 3.2 p4 installed in system properties; it also says it's running at 2.23ghz. ????????? this is weird, i have a 2.2 p4 on my desktop, it's running at 2.19ghz. is there something wrong?

check to see if your power options are set for desktop?

When running on battery power, I think, the processor clocks down to 2.23 ghz to conserve battery. It probably clocks up when it needs the power though. CHeck your powersettings in control panel. Set it to "always on" or "desktop." and see what happens. Make sure, however, if you every go portable, make sure you put it back to "laptop" or "max battery" to conserve battery power when it can.

that was it, thanks, so much, i'm sorry, this is the first notebook i've owned. is there a way to adjust this, i mean that was a lot of cpu loss? another question, my batter only seems to last about 1 hour, maybe a little longer. i have a 8 cell, i've heard people say they are getting 2.5+ hours out of theirs. what can i do?

There is a setting in BIOS that allows the speed to be reduced (like it now does) or stay at the maximum setting.
