Whooo hoooo! Well after the many weeks i had spent of this forum, i of course, purchased a sager 5670-v. When i had first ordered it, it was back when the 60 gig 5400rpm drives were MIA and there was no ETA for them. I had ordered on memorial day, and i really wanted to get it before i left for a fishing trip in canada on the 6th for a week and a half. Now i fully didnt expect my laptop to arrive until after the 6th, but i decided to e-mail pctorque about it and heres the response i recieved
We've been working hard to get the 60GB 5400rpm had drives. We found a
distributor that has 100 Toshiba drives and they will only sell all of
them. We would do it, but their price is CRAZY (about $50 higher than
we were even charging our customers each). We're still waiting for the
shipment directly from Toshiba to Sager and can't say for sure right
PC Torque Ltd.
He let me know that at least they were trying to help me out. Well the sunday before i left for my trip ( i left on thursday) i get an e-mail with a tracking # saying that my laptop is on its way!!!!! Man i went to ups.com so fast.... anyway since they ship from california and i live in arizona, i knew it wouldnt take too long, and after much anticipation, i recieved it on tuesday! I just want to right now thank whole heartedly everyone at sager and pctorque, you guys are awesome! Anyway well here are the specs of my order....

Here was my reasoning in everything i got,
1. The screen, well DUH! haha i mean this screen is amazing, though i'll get to that later, but yeah, it wasn't even an option not to get the uxga, i love high quality screens.
2. The processor, well i was debating whether or not i needed a 3.06 with HT, but after some thought, i decided that HT is what pentiums all will have, so i dont want an outdated processor ( though see how my mind changes later in this post.....lol)
3. THe HD, I wanted a fast 60 gig, thats my reasoning i guess
4. The RAM, I dont need a gig but i got 1 sodimm so that i could late add another 512 and get a gig.
5. The Intergrated WIFI card, this is just a fun little toy that i wanted just for the cool factor, and also my roomate just got a centrino toshiba with integrated wifi, so i figure i had better get it too since we'll have a wireless router in our dorm next year.
6. Dual Battery setup, well the battery life sucks, so i wanted all i could get.
Ok well now back to the story, so i get the package while i'm out with my girlfriend for the last time till july 15 ( while i was in canada, she left for norway and will be there till then ) and my mom calls me to tell me its at the house, now i know i should ignore it and spend time with her..... but it was a tough decision, however in the end girls are better than computers in my eyes, so i waited like a good boy until 12 that night when i dropped her off at her house, hahah I then raced home to my beautiful new baby. Ahhhhh
My first Impressions:
As i pulled the mammoth out of its case, the first thing i noticed was its sheer size. Theres no mistaking it, i mean its a monster of a laptop, but i knew that before i bought it, still though, it was a bit surprising. So anyway i carefully took off the plastic covers on the screen and various surfaces on the laptop. i plugged in "the brick" the only power adapter EVER to have its own built in fan.... man that thing is cool.. haha anyway well so i plug it all in and turn it on........ It was like opening the best christmas present ever, i had a smile ear to ear and YAY!!! No dead pixels! Man that was my main concern, i really didnt want to get any and i didnt, the screen is like a masterpeice, it is beautiful! It BLOWS AWAY any other screen i've ever seen on a laptop. Anyway so then windows loads up and Wholla! My computer was so kick ass i didnt sleep all night cause i was loading stuff onto it.
Ok well heres a cool pic of the DUAL monitor support, i have it set on extend my desktop, so i can have many windows open at once, haha this is what my non computer saavy friends are most impressed by
Here is my Logitech Cordless MX Duo, man i love this thing
Ok now i know some people sent their laptops to colorware and etc, but i'm not too risky, so i modded it the safe way, thats to that one template, sorry i forgot who made it but thanks, your instructions were simple to follow and it worked the first time, i'm talking about the wrist gaurd template that is. Here see 4 yourself
Ok now for testing eveything:
Well i hit ctrl alt del to makesure 'both' processors were there and they were, so i loaded 3dmark01 and scored very similar to all the others did in other posts, so no need to report those, but then, oh man i dont know why, but i tested using 3dmark03, and man, it couldnt handle that at all, i mean i got 1000 somthing, but again tahts what others had gotten, yet i was hoping it'd do better. Well anyway i started to play MOHAA Spearhead and it freezes, i'm not talking like clopse it then try again, i mean LOCKUP i had to manuallly turn it off. I tried again after reboot and same thing. Then i start reading posts, and whuddya know, HT and DX9.0a dont play well together..... yet. Oh well i mean it cant be perfect, but all my other games work well, and warcraft3 is great, you'll see that later. But yeah, So i keep testing games, GTA Vice worked flawlessly, same with freelancer and neverwinter nights 2, then i get to command and conquer generals, a game that on my other nvidia 64meg desktop can barely run on lowest settings, so naturally i set eveything to max and it is a bit slow, but not bad at all, so i take off a few things i dont need and it now runs smooth as butter
Ok now that everything is working, i decide that its time to test out the s-video out feature. So i go to my work (best buy) and pick up a cable for like 2 bucks ( haha it was a 12 dollar cable normally, though my discount on cables is amazing) so anyway then come home and hook it up. heres a pic:
so yeah, after messin with the vid settings a bit, i finally get it to work :-) man playing warcraft 3 online from my couch with my wireless keyboard & mouse and watching TV on the picture in picture,,,,,,,,,hahaha could things get any lazier??
lol anyway well that worked great except that any video or dvd i play on the laptop doesnt display on the TV, its only black i wanted that to work bad, but oh well. i still love the thing.
Ok well its about 4 so i think i'm gonna wrap things up here in this review. So here are some final thoughts:
The laptop was well worth the money, i feel confidant that it will last me for at least a few years and i will be a loyal sager customer when it dies (nEVER! ) haha
Seriously, does anyone know how to fix my two problems, one with MOHAA and with the video thing? That would make it flawless!
Oh one last thing, since the pics, i bought belkin's USB 2.0 docking station, a universal dock that everything plugs into, freeing the back of the comp from messy cords and such, it cut it from 7 down to 2, it was a good buy, heck even the cable internet plugs into it. I would recommend it to anyone.
Ok well i hope my review was helpful to at least one or two of you, and as always, feel free to reply to this and ask me about the laptop. Special thanks to adam and GSferrari for all your help!
