oh, it´s been a while since i last posted here. good to see all you guys are back. ah..
now to my problem:
i´m having alienware bring my area51m2 to the depot for problem solving (overheating so that it reboots every 10 minutes haha). the only thing they want me to do before i send it to them is to try to remove one of the ram-memories and try if it works better and so on. and my problem is one of the screws that holds the metalpiece that is above the ram is stuck. cant freaking move it. so i want to know if this has happened to anyone else, and if i can use brute force to get it open.

dont strip the screw or you'll never get it out. I have a problem sort of like yours, were you put in the wireless card one of the screws is very hard to unscrew it so i left it alone since I dont have a wireless card. If you cant get it unscrewed just send it in to depot and let them worry about it. I dont see why your RAM would be causing that problem so i would have to say its your computer..

Normal cirumstances i wuld say heat it up lol. Or drill through it but this is a pc.

I have noticed they have used loctite only way to undo it is wither brute force but accuracy or heating it up.

I had a similar problem but it was one of the screws to the back plate so I could get to the CPU. I could not get it off at all and the screw head was so tiny that all my screw drivers small enough to fit it just bent before it turned. I eventually stripped it trying to remove it and had to drill through it. Talk about scary when your drilling into your laptop. It all worked out well though and I got the back plate off and the screw top actually came off when drilling it so part of it is still stuck down in the hole. I just don't put a screw in that spot now since there is like 7 other screws holding that plate on.

I had the same problem with the cover over the mini-pci slot the other day. I got 2 of them out no problem, but one was not budging, and I wound up stripping the head. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to try to get it started, but it didn't seem to help much.

Then i remembered that i had some of this stuff that is supposed to increase your grip on screws in my toolbox. Basically, it is a very gritty liquid. You put a dot of it on the tip of the screwdriver and then try to loosen as usual. This actually got it free for me. Now I just don't put it back in b/c I'm afraid I will never get it back out again

well... i´ve decided i´ll just let those depot-guys do it for me=) mostly because, as blaze said, it is most likely not the ram that is wrong.
want wait to get the beast back from the depot, to finally be able to play games without it crashing every 10-15 minutes.
