[Tweak}--Radeon RBG tweak for insp. screens - Page 2

Hmm. I haven't tried this yet as I am away from my 9100 for a week. However, I am interested to read about the hotkeys as I have set the colour to default EXCEPT the brightness, which I set to -35, and it gives a much better picture. However, when coming out of a game the profile would always revert, and I'd have to go back into the colour tab.

So, I need to set a brightness hotkey so that it doesn't revert?

Thanks Kierrato, these settings look great. I'm using a Inspiron 8600 with Radeon 9600 Pro solution.

Anyone know how to change the hotkeys? My ati panel hsa the hotkeys button greyed.... I checked the ATI hotkey poller service and it seems to be running...

EDIT: Nevermind, just found out you have to be in 3D setting. However, the hotkeys don't work , and the default settings always come on, even in desk, until I go to the color tab. Anyone have any ideas?

The Omega drivers color control are totally different from what you have shown. What do we do for Omega drvers?
Yeah, the Omegas have separate R, G, and B controls for the Gamma, but the Brightness and Contrast controls are common to the full display. You can still plug in the Gamma numbers, but the Contrast and Brightness are global so you may need to futz a bit with it. I found the numbers Kierrato used were a little heavy with the Omegas, so adjust to taste.

One cool, thing, though, is that it has a separate "Game" section, so you can set your values and not have to worry about hotkeys to set your games the way you want. Oddly enough, here the colour numbers are out of 100 instead of being between 1 and 0. However, should still work with the same "numbers" - eg. .75 in normal display would correspond with 75 in Game.

Me likey the new look after changing the settings. Thanks for posting these settings.

Yeah the new omegas make using this tweak difficult. I`ll stick to my adobe calibrated profile

Wow! My desktop has gone from looking like a poloroid that has been sitting in the sun a bit too long to an actual sweet looking desk top.

I have experienced similar problems others have. Although the colors are more vibrant and alive looking it's also a bit darker not brighter as some have mentioned.

I have the omega drivers installed and would like to address some stuff about these.
It has been mentioned that the brightness and contrast are global. If that was the case how can the brightness and contrast maintian their own independant settings? I can adjust blue to 155 brightness and watch the blue line adjust, but it doesn't set all other colors to the same brightness. I would like to make my desk top brighter. Should I turn up the brightness and contrast for all the colors little by little?

I can't get the 3D setting to work in game because the hot keys won't work. Interesting though is that the games share the same darkened screen of the desktop so maybe the default's aren't resetting them selves? It was also mentioned that the omega drivers have their own in game color controll settings. Where are these? I looked under every thing and no luck.

It's amazing you can have all these questions you want to ask and when you sit down to ask them they decide to hide away leaving me to stare at a blinking cursor, teasing me, knowing, all knowing.

Rogueone (or anyone),

I reinstalled my omegadriver right after I installed the card into the lappy, without using the Dell software driver update, but I'm still only receiving a limited set of display option tabs. is the Omegadriver an addon to the current drivers, or a total reinstall?
Sorry,

Answered my own question. Went ahead and downloaded the ATI drivers from Dell. Went to the control panel, and the Omegadrivers were still there with overclocking features and everything, plus all the display options from the Dell/ATI software update from Nov. 1!

I'm happy!

I have discovered another interesting thing. When ever I reboot, the desktop looks it's same old washed up self and for some reason when I enter into the ati control panel and tick the color tab it switches to the new settings.

Arg. i really want to get this right. The default settings are a bit sub par.

What is the difference between the omega and dells ati drivers as far as display options go? As far as I can tell the color menu in the screen shot on the first page of this thread looks the same as the omega menu.Hmmm...

As far as I can determine, Omega drivers offer no color display options. It's simply graphics control for tweaking games and graphics related programs. I found this out when I upgraded my 9700 mobility to the 9800. I Sort of pitched the included driver software over my shoulder and reinstalled the existing Omegadriver I had in my program list. It reset my native 1200x1900 resolution, but gave me no tabs to fiddle with advanced display options. I downloaded the most recent Dell/ATI driver today, and those tabs all showed up, leaving the Omegadriver and radlinker intact.

Been fiddling with Kierrato's display tweaks, but finding them to be a bit too harsh. I did take some of his gamma and contrast adjustments and applied them globally using the general RGB settings - the overall look of the screen is much richer.

How can you tell which LCD screen you have, besides busting it open?
I tried the settings, but I'm having to switch back. It looks awful on my WUXGA 1920x1200.

I just installed the Omega 4.10 Beta drivers and there is a significant difference between the 4.10 and the older Omega drivers as far as color managment options go.

The omega 4.8 drivers have the same tabs and options as the new dell ati drivers as far as tweaking colors goes ( I installed them both to see what the difference was first hand). That is why I tought every one was crazy when they were saying how different the Dell/Omega drivers were for color managment. I just had the older omega drivers.

I also overlapped the two drivers as some others have done which worked fine but the question is do you lose all the tweaks the omega drivers have? Hmm..

Devnull, there is a great tutorial in the Dell XPS/I9100 FAQ which gives you about three our four different ways of determening your screens manufacterer that does not involve turning one screw. The last resort is taking your lappy apart so make sure you try all of the other options first.
