Its wierd, I play games and it works fine for a while, a few days/reboots later, all of a sudden it gets slow and chunky. I can tell just by the opening movies they get slower and the music doesnt play smoothly, but then I reinstall a video driver and it works fine again for a while?

what gives?

I got the spybot resident running and antivir virus protection going, not sure if they interfere somehow, they never did before. and im on win xp SP2

check the event log for disk errors. Iv'e seen drives slowly die exhibit those symptoms.

there are a few errors if im looking in the right place but nothing related to video it seems.

this is getting really annoying. maybe i need to reformat since I have a few other minor problems as well.

That's just it. If the HDD starts going bad it can corrupt data, ie your video drivers. Reinstalling puts a fresh coppie on the HDD which then gets corrupted again. try tunning checkdisk /f it may want to run at next boot let do that and see if that helps. If it doesn't help and reports no problems then I'd try a reload.
