What would you guys recommend?

Not sure if many of you get this alot but I just want to know which brand is the best for gaming, movies (dvds, vcds, .avi files, etc.), and chatting? Under 1600...that is.

I've been skimming on some posts and many recommend Acer for gaming but they're a lil expensive. Is there any other brand that would be decent. I know the higher-end models of dell is a thought but I've noticed they can go up to 2000.

1.7Ghz Dothan, 128mb video ATi MRadeon 9700, 60gb 7200rpm, 512mb DDR333, CD-RW/DVD.

$1590!!!!

it won'tbe that good for movies.... you need widescreen for that.

edit: hey, are the prices lower or is this just me?
