hi

first i want to thank you guys for this great forum ...it was very helpful for me many times

my question is about the keyboard for toshiba tecra s1 .... im trying to clean the keyboard after spilling some coke on it.... but couldnt really get to open the machine up to be able to clean it
i dont have much experience with laptops and never opened one before ... i asked some friends and they told me that i might be able to open the keyboard without opening the secrews on the back but didnt know how to do it

another thing... after i spilled the coke on the machine, one of the keys stopped working ...so is it just whats left of the coke or the key is stuffed up permenantly? and how to fix it if thats the case?

also what do you guys recommend for cleaning this mess....alcohol or some special stuff/ spray?

thanks in advance for any help

i recommend you pull apart the machine ASAP as the coke may have have spilt onto the board.

flip the machine upside down and undo the 2 B12 screws near the docking station on either side flip the machine back up the right way and put a flat head screw driver near the windows key neat the top right and lift it up, ( you will see a slight cut out where the screw driver blade should go) once you have the pannel out undo the 2x B2 screws and undo the ribben cable.

you can't really clean the keyboards once something has been spilt into it, i recommend you purchase another keyboard, make sure there is no spillage on the board, if so see how bad it is, if its not too bad clean it up, if it's everywere im afriad the coke will just eat through the board and kill it after time.
