Acer Ferrari 3400?

In a press release from AMD about their new 90nm "Mobile Athlon 64 processor 3000+ for thin and light notebooks" it is mentioned that it is going to be used by Acer in their Ferrari 3400.

I am very interested in buying one of these if they are available soon, but I also need 1GB of RAM and a 7200 rpm hard drive. When I go to PCTorque's site and look at the current Ferrari 3200, I am unable to customize its RAM and drive.

Has anyone found a vendor that will customize a Ferrari?
Maybe if I phone them up and ask? Anyone done this?

humm I hear you can customize your HD by yourself by just buying parts off new egg or something

I think www.pctorque.com might change the HD and ram for you, they also have a zero dead pixel policy on the Ferrari 3200 so I guess the same will go for the 3400 when available in the U.S market.

I think it will be a while before Acer pops out another Ferrari. The 3200 just came out, and people are still having problems with it. They are probably going to need to put a lot of work into a new one.

What problems?

so would it be possible for current F3200 notebook owners to buy the new chip and change it?

Yes, but I see no reason to. The performance gained is next to nothing. Wait for a LV 3400+ with 1MB L2 cache.

I could see you wait if you already have a Ferrari 3200 but not if you are thinking about buying a laptop now. I would just buy the current model and be happy and maybe switch the CPU in the future sometime or buy a new Ferrari in 3 year or so.

When the Ferrari 3400 becomes close to launche the Ferrari 3200 might drop in price even more, although I think it is to popular and will simply sell out as the Ferrari 3400 becomes available. This is what happend with the Ferrari 3000 when the Ferrari 3200 came out, it never hardly dropped in price, it just dissapeard from the market...
