Multiple Questions for the 8887....

Hi All

I have been using my 8887 for about a month now, and am generally loving it. I do have a few simple problems, I am hoping the more experienced users may be able to help me with.

I have enjoyed watching a couple of DVD's on the computer, but can't seem to get the remote to control the DVD playback, volume, etc. Am I missing something, or does the remote control not affect DVD playback (in either bay)? Even with the TV software running in the background, it doesn't seem to do much, except turn off.

The remote control has a bunch of buttons, but I can't find any instructions on what they all do. Are there any resources/reference materials on this damned thing?

The sound from my machine seems to be very echoey. Is this normal? I have tried finding a setting for it, but alas - nada.

With the 3D Architectural software I use, I need to hold down the space bar while clicking on construction elements. This doesn't seem to be working on the Sager. I can't find any software controls to alter this. Is it a known hardware issue and is there any way of changing it?

After having bought 50 DVD+R discs, I am starting to guess (by the lack of burning going on) that my DVD burner only works with DVD-R. Tell me it ain't so!

Looking forward to any helpful replies.

Cheers,
Link.

Agreed. Mine too. This is a function of the Sound Effect Manager in Control Panel. Most of the choices are too echoey for me. For now I've settled for Living Room and Powerful. You'll have to experiment. Check this thread for info about new drivers. It gives you more choices in the Equalizer. I've installed them with no problem.

this is probably not at all helpfull, but i use macromedia freehand quite a bit and it is abnormally buggy. i doesnt crash at all, but pallets always must be reset everytime i launch the program, and just weird unusual things occur that have never occured when using FH under other windows-based systems.. go figure....

Okay

With a little more investigation, I have figured out how to get rid of the echo. Pretty easy really, with Sound Effects - I just switched it to 'none'. I even found a way to check how much echo each sound theme has. With a song playing in AV Rack, hit the mute button. When it stops, you will hear how much echo there is by the amount of music that keeps playing. When it is set to none, the is actually none. When it is set to something like Stadium, the music echoes for a good second after being muted.

I am still very disappointed with the lack of information on the remote control. Why include such an extensive remote, if no one knows how to use it????!

Any further help still appreciated.

Cheers,
