8887 Radeon Drivers

Still fighting some lingering driver issues...

Any 8887 owners here have any luck with the OmegaDrivers.net drivers for the Radeon Mobility 9000 ? I ask because everytime I try to install them, the screen dies on the next startup until I boot from Safe Mode and uninstall them. However, I have heard that they are supposed to work. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a better alternative than these drivers that I do not know of? Thanks,

Uninstall The Drivers and the ATI Control Panel. When you reboot it will most likely default to 800 X 600 resolution and 16-bit color. The Omega's will install the Drivers and Control Panel at the same time. When you reboot after installing the Omega's, make sure you wait at least 5 mins before doing anything. The drivers or control panel try to find the native resolution 1600 X 1200 for the 16in LCD. If you touch the mouse or keyboard it could be interupting the automatic settings. I can say that I have not had problems with any of the Omega drivers on my 128MB 9000. If you have the 64MB 9000 then there might be a difference.

Thanks for the advice Potato. I saw my screen flip out and panicked every time. I just sat tight and in about a minute, the computer restarted and the drivers said they were installed.

Thanks,

Good. If you ever install the Drivers and the Control Panel seperately, Install the drivers first.

Hi - I am new to the forum and I have been rumaging around. Could you please elaborate about the "Omega" video drivers. I have a Sager 8887, p4 3.06 GHZ HT, 1Gb.RAM, 60 Gig HDD, 128Mb Video and some other extras of little importance. I have not spent any time before now trying to change any of the default drivers. What have I been missing????

The Omega Video Driver are modified ATI Radeon Catalyst Drivers to work with Laptops. They work with 8887 for now but as time goes on that may change.
