9-22-04 4750 new fan firmware - Page 3

sounds like you and the penguin are getting along just fine. temps seem normal too (for having a big fan anyway).

As for me, I'm backing up and doing a reformat reinstall to confirm whether or not I have a hardware problem. Fingers are crossed.

crossing!

Does this mean you're locking up on the new firmware still OGRE? Mine has only happened once since the firmwares started getting updated two weeks ago on the first one they officially released (the one following Adam's fan full speed bios).

Nothing yet on the new one...hope it holds out.

I'm curious, when you guys lock up are you using USB for any kind of moderate/heavy data transfer?

yuppers, it still fudges up during startup.

I had my Audigy ext sound card hooked up most of the time, would that be a problem somehow? I'm at home and I didn't bother to take that and my speakers with me so all I have plugged up right now is my mouse and it still crashed at startup.

i doubt it. I think that you are tryig to deny the truth. sorry buddy.

I'm not denying it anymore, I'm trying to find it.

Just finished doing a reformat/reinstall and my desktop looks so naked right now. I haven't put any of my stuff back on my 4750 yet (I don't know if I will if I'm going to send it to Sager soon), but so far no crashes or problems. I haven't done the crucial test yet tho, a cold boot. I'll be trying that shortly ...

Been following the trials and tribulations you've been experiencing with your 4750. Ours hasn't had any issues in the month we've had it, but I'd breathe easier if your problems turned out to be software instead of hardware.

Ours came with the 3200+ and the "no OS" option.

Anxious to hear how the format and fresh install came out.

let us know how it goes ogre

well, it crashed after a cold boot just like before. sigh, I knew it would be this way, now I have to go through all the trouble of getting this thing shipped.

its not to bad ogre, i shipped mine to get the screen replaced. It was like 60 from ups with insurance, and 2nd day air.

yeah, it's just that I have to actually do something. I'm lazy

I'm feeling ya!

OGRE, have you tried the "beta release" that Adam posted way back at the beginning of all of this? At least you will have an idea of the problem for when you send it in (if you have to). I'm referring to the "full blast" fans which start at post.
no I haven't tried that one. I think I will just for the heck of it, but that won't make the damage my lappy has suffered go away. I think the best thing for me to do is send it in and let Sager fix it instead of me trying to work my way around these crashes.

Does the v1.03 bios include the fan fix?
