ebay laptops..

ebay sells many laptops and i was wondering are these actual scams too?

some are, some aren't. you're better off buying from a legitimate shop online that you can get a warranty from and service.

you are prolly going to save 500 dollars. Its not worth it, unless you are buying an old laptop or something. When you bid on their item, you will get spam......spam.....more spam.

I bid on a sony vaio a190, he was selling it for 1700. It cost almost 3 gs--scam. Some guy won but got ripped off. anyway after awhile my email box filled up with spam.

stuff like,

test drive a vaio
cheap laptops
then personal emails saying buy from me but don't tell ebay.

Ebay I have found to be good for NoN-Expensive items.

Ebay is fine if you are a shrewd buyer - learn to spot the deals and especially look for sellers with high feedback ratings - you don't get high ratings if your a scammer. Also, consider getting the buyers insurance on paypal sales if your skeptical - keep in mind though that you need to weigh the risks of buying this way with your cost savings - I've purchased quite alot off ebay and been bitten once or twice but all in all a good experience. I find your quite better off however buying from here if you want to buy used.

is it really safe to buy off people here? I was going to buy a shinza sleeve but was afraid to get burned. How do you know its safe?Sorry to get off topic

ask them if they have heatware, if they are trusted sellers, and have sold a lot they will normally have a heatware rating.

I agree - I've found it quite safe but as any other online service you have the potential to get scammed - use common sense - check with others for the sellers forum status, ask about ebay and other online selling feedback, etc . . .

I haven't found any worth winning in the end, but hey maybe you'll get lucky.

If you pay attention you can find a nice machine. bout a year ago my buddy bought a Dell 5100 P4 2.6 with 512mb of ram and 60GB hard drive for under 1k shipped it was brand new in the dell box and came with full warranty. at the time this was about 450 less than buying from dell.

I agree.. research the sellers feedback and previous sales and purchases.
I found a nice Sony VAIO FX430 (P3 900, 20gig, 512RAM) in great condition for $330. Seller thought it was dead becuase the screen would start off dim then eventually get bright. The power supply also had electrical tape on it. So I took a chance and bought it. I bought a new PS from ebay as well and it works great and is in MINT condition.

Yea, I just got my 5790 for $1100 shipped, the guy had been a member for 2 years and had positive feedback for many pricey items. Just do some research and talk to the seller, ask for a phone number and call him. My laptop came and was in EXCELLENT condition, and I couldnt be happier. Just dont rush anything.

How about using escrow service? Wouldn't that be a better way? Or is there a way to scam people whis way as well? I know there are fees but considering you are buying an expensive equipment that would be the best way of doing it.
I've used escrow when selling in the past but I much prefer not too - It literally leaves the seller without money for 2+ weeks typically and when selling your only system as I typically do it's rough . . . but overall it's a great way to prevent fraud if you have any uneasiness.

i have used ebay and gave up after being stung with them I am selling some stuff now on the forums here ( motorbike and a pc )

and although i dont have a rating i can assure I am in good steed.

buyer will collect and cash into hand with product shown working old fashioned long whinded but both people go away happy.
if you use an escrow service make sure to use www.escrow.com , dont use anything but the regular escrow, as there are LOTS of scam escrow services out there.

I would be concerned about any site without a legitimate domain name - if the company can't even drop 7 bucks for an appropriate domain . . . plus it makes me wonder about a first level like that . . . narod.ru? Smells fishy to me from this alone

I am a worthless troll trying to dupe ignorant people out of their money...

Of course it is a scam. Wholesalers can't buy those models at those prices, the website is in Russia, home of internet scams. Don't go anywhere near it.
