Hard Drive clicking & CD-RW/DVD issues...

Just a few questions:
1. How can you find out the harddrive P/N or the current firmware version? I have the 7200rpm 60GB hard drive (and I have reformatted Windows XP Professional), but on the Dell website it says:

Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 firmware (rev. A6EA) corrects an intermittent clicking noise issue on the following models:
HTS726060M9AT00 (60GB - P/N J1489)
HTS726060M9AT00 (60GB - P/N N3574)

Is there anywhere (in the settings or control panel or something) I can find out my P/N without opening up my laptop? I know mine's the HTS726060M9AT00...but can I go into the settings somewhere to find out my P/N OR my firmware version?

2. Once you format, is there anyway you can get Windows to recognize the CD-RW/DVD drive as a "permanent" drive. On my taskbar, the little button to Safely Remove Hardware ALWAYS appears...and it's not a big issue, but I'm wondering if anyone has noticed this as well, or has been able to "fix" it!

3. Sometimes, my CD-RW/DVD drive doesn't eject when I push the button on it, or when I got to My Computer, right-click on the drive, and eject. It has only happened about 3 times in the past month, and all I have to do to fix it is to take out the drive and then put it back in, but it's an annoyance. Has anyone else noticed this or been able to fix it?

Thanks to any helpful replies or responses to my questions! I'm stupid at times...as you can tell from the little smiley below...

1: Just download and run the update .. If its not needed the program will tell you it won't and will exit .. If it is needed then it will prompt you to update the firmware ..

2: AFIAK its supposed to show under the safely remove hardware since it is a removvable drive and can be swapped for a hard drive or floppy drive .. That way the computers not trying to access a drive thats not installed if you swap.

3: Sounds like some piece of software is locking your drive. A common problem with this is caused by Sonics Record Now I believe ..
