Hyperthreading Vs, Non-hyperthreading

Which do you believe is better? I've heard that hyperthreading conflicts with some stuff

also, How about we have someone define exactly what Hyperthreading is

It's like splitting 1 processor into 2.

"enabling a single processor to run two separate threads of software simultaneously. The result is greater performance and system responsiveness when running multiple applications at once." from intel's site

So, after reading those 3 articles, let's see if I got right: HT will have no impact on gamers (or even the performance might take a minor hit with HT enabled) and will only be usefull on some very specific situations when you are multitasking two or more heavy-resources consuming applications.

Is that correct?

Cheers.

you are indeed correct. the programs in which HT would increase performance would be ones such as Photoshop.

HT should help when multi tasking with a lot of programs running in the background also

as one guy said he can burn a dvd and play a game at the same time
