Alienware has forums...use them

These forums are great but Alienware has official forums and I suggest they be used, it is only for Alienware (system) customers (aka items purchased in the gearshop will not get you in)

All you need is a account# which is located on your invoice (which most of you have in your custom Alienware binders), an e-mail address, and pick a user name

The forum can be found HERE

PLEASE use them, I don't mean stop posting here, but PLEASE do use these forums, alot of people are using these forums as a replacement for the real thing, and I'd hate to see Alienware's official forums die.

I don't like the AW forums actually. I've found better info and quicker responses here.

Post it in the gereral area instead of the tech support area, we have alot more brains on the official forums imo.

Official Alienware Forums = Owned

I agree that there's not much talk going on in the official Alienware Forums. I still check them pretty regular, but not allot of people post there. I've started some threads and got 0-3 replies. There's more action here.

I've been to the Official Alienware forums and I'm not impressed. But yes, you do find more of an Alienware specialized forum. But I'd rather have the more open to the community and less (heavily) moderated Notebook Forums.
You're post does not show up immediately in the official Alienware forums, it has to be approved first!
Here in the NBF you get exposed to a wider spectrum of fellow avid computer users, which I would rather preferr.

I remember seeing posts in the Official Alienware forums about referring to material posted HERE in the Notebook forms. Now chew on that!

Very well said. I agree completely.

The alienware forums suck..by the time they authorize your post and you get your one or 2 replies you could have the issue solved on these forums.

The only benifit is that you will often be replied by some actual alienware tech support people, but i'm not very impressed with them..and if you do want to talk to them its alot easier to call
post #9 of 72
yeah, its clear that the AW forums are very inconvienet for anyone trying to resolv ethere issue ina timely manner... your looking at 12-48 hours just to have your post approved!

and id say at least 65% of the problems solved on this message board or on the AW message board are NOT specific to alienware computers at all.... and are just basic PC troubleshooting type questions.

you have your 1-20% that require AW drivers ro firmware and anotehr 20% that need to have the laptop shipped back.

everything else is pretty basic

The only posts I've ever seen that refer to something on this board refers back to a lawsuit about Alienware laptops involving the graphics upgradablility issue.
Also there are THREE sections to the Alienware Forums, Community, Tech, and Customer Service...you need to go to COMMUNITY in order to not have to be moderated, it's common sense. The reason why not many ppl post is because ppl like you all are unwillng to build it up and instead post in a public forum. I'd take the Alienware official forums over these forums any day.

The Alienware Community forum in not moderated. That is one of the overlooked benifts of having an Official Alienware closed forum. This forum should actually be taken as proof to the world that Alienware does not have a closed forum in some odd attempt to hide something from the public. But this forum is needed by everyone that is looking for Alienware information and needs access to Alienware owners in order to discredit the Anti-Alienware mindset that is spread across reputable forums and websites. The Alienware owners need to meet up in the Official forums but we also need to be here.

Remember that this forum has such a large and significant Alienware community that the moderators from the Official Alienware Forums sometimes visit in order to reach those who do not frequent thier forums.

Here's what I see who are registered;

Alienware-Eddie
Alienware-Gavin
Alienware-JuanG
Alienware_david
Alienware_Josh

Just i cant visit them due to me buying from europe :P so this is AW forum for me lol

I dont see the need (or find it my or anyones duty) to "build up" the AW forums.

as long as there is someplace people can come for help that is all that matters.

weather it is here or on the AW forums, i dont see what thta matters. the way i see it, is if they provided better awnsers on their forums, people wouldnt have to come here.

hell, AW doesn't let you into the forums till you get your computer! I needed help with my phase waiting game (thanks everyone!), and this is the only place to do that. After I post some pics and write a review I hope to become a stranger around these parts -except for holidays of course. Plus the people who hang around these forums are smart, positive folks, not trolls lookng for trouble.....

like you.
