Any such thing as wireless coaxial connection?

Just about everything is wireless anymore... Anyone know a way to eliminate the coaxial cable we need to plug into the Notebook tuner card? Any kind of wireless RF or something?

No such thing... There was a recent post about this very topic a while ago, but I'm too lazy to search for it. Basically, it would be violating quite a few retransmission laws, and the FCC would be all over your case if you did. However, if you were courageous, you could possibly create a streaming video server on a base machine w/ a TV tuner, and just tune into the video server with an 802.11b connection. But again, that's only if you're courageous: if the FCC finds out, your screwed.

Yeah, there is no such thing as wireless cable, that would defeat the purpose. You could use rabbit ears though

Yes you can do what you are talking about... I can think of two ways:

First you can get a prebuilt product specifically designed for this:

(This one will probably break all cordless phones and 802.11b networks within a half a block.)

Second option, which I think would work better is to go to radio shack and purchase a signal booster. Get the most powerful one you can find. Then plug in signal coax cable on the Input and an antenna on the Output. Then using an antenna (any generic one will work) you can plug this into the laptop. It should work for 30-40 feet on all channels.

If you don't get the range you want or good reception with this you can daisy chain a few of the signal boosters together. ... You can actually run a TV station this way, although you might have a fire risk. or give your neighborhood free cable.

( A friend of mine bought two of the "Wireless DVD" extenders, and modified a CAT5 cable into a coax cable into and out of two of the units [ creating a transeiver on both ends] and made a 10MBit wireless etherneal card a few years ago... the bandwidth range is about the same.)

rabbit ears?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The signal booster and antenna sounds good. Regarding the "rabbit ears", is that a regular antenna or the equipment that I heard about years ago that you plug into power outlet? Can you elaborate and where can I get rabbit ears? Thanks again. You guys are really smart!

If that hyperlink doesn't work, follow this sequence of clicks:
1) www.sony.com/vaio
2) peripherals
3) home networking
4) VAIO RoomLink Network Media Receiver PCNA-MR10

Transmitter said to connect to your PC's etherent. The receiver goes connects to your stereo or TV. Description says works with Sony VAIO PC's but I can't see why it wouldn't work with other PCs as long as the supported formats are used (MPEG2, MPEG1 for video, MP3 and some other sound formats, various common still image formats).
