Hi, I usualy post on the Alienware forums (since I am a proud new owner of a Roswell-M system ). However I have a Dell Dimension 4100 that I bought 4 years ago. I have already had the mother board and processor replaced once because the darn thing melted. Now for some really annoying unknown reason neither of my CD drives work. My computer has not been under warrenty for over a year now so I am hoping someone here can help me out. This is what happens. When I put a cd into the TDK rewrittable drive I get an error saying that the drive is not accessable incorrect function. Now it is both drives and it happened at exactly the same time. It doesn't matter if I have a cd in only one of the drives both say they are unaccessable and when I don't have a cd in either drive and I double click them it says I need to insert a cd to do anything. I talked to TDK about that drive and they told me to first update the IDE drivers, so I did but that didn't do anything (they also told me to set the TDK as cable select instead of master but that didn't do anything either). Then they told me to put on a new IDE cable, so I did and that didn't fix anything either. So, they told me to then try with only one drive plugged in at a time. And still no results. They said that if that happens I am pretty much screwed. Can anyone help me out?
