Just saw this notebook for $1,164.89, shipping and California tax included!

Mobile Sempron 2800+, 512MB, 60GB, DVD±RW/CD-RW, Windows XP Pro, 15.4" TFT

Anyone have any experience with this line of notebooks? Sempron is socket 754 correct?

It's a 754-pin, yes. However, I must warn you that Semprom is a 32-bit processor...

Yes but, what if in a year or so when Windows 64 bit is available, I chose to put in an Mobile Athlon 64 CPU... Will it work? Don't really see any reason why it wouldn't unless they have limited it in bios somehow...

u cant put a 64 bit proc in a 32 bit mother board..64s come with on die memory controllers

I thought the AMD Sempron CPU was basicly an Athlon 64 with the 64bit instructions and some of the cache dissabled?

There are two different types of AMD Sempron CPUs.

Socket A: Ordinary AMD XP processor, Barton Core but with half of the Cache dissabled (256 kb instead of 512 kb).

Socket 754: Just like the AMD 64 processors but with the 64bit instructions dissabled, 256 KB Cache (instead of 512 KB or 1024 KB) and a lower Vcore.
